I found this Galaxie 500 Q Code convertible sitting in a garage in
Elgin, Illinois last July. Evidently, it had been sitting there for
the past 18 years. A few years after the car was restored, the
owner passed away and left the car to the family and they just
parked it in the garage. I flat bedded it to the shop and went
through the entire car. The Galaxie has: complete rebuilt engine,
rebuilt carb, new battery, new radiator, rebuilt factory (disc)
brakes, all fluids have been changed. The front end, rear end and
transmission have all been inspected. A/C compressor and components
are there, however not hooked up. This convertible runs and drives
excellent, it is ready for cruising.
EXTERIOR: The paint has a high gloss finish with some minor flaws.
The doors, hood and trunk gaps are dead on. The doors close as they
should. The front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed but have
some small areas that are peeling. The convertible top is spotless.
The cars five spoke aluminum wheels and steel belted radial tires
look new.
INTERIOR: The interior features white bucket seats with red
accents, console with three speed automatic T Shifter. The factory
wood sport steering wheel shows well. The dash and door panels are
clean and crisp. The red carpeting shows no signs of wear. Sunpro
gauges have been installed under the dash. The dash is not hacked
up and still has its original working AM/FM radio. All the
convertible top weather strip has just been replaced. The door
seals are also new.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: The engine compartment is nicely detailed. The
428 engine has just been rebuilt with less than 10, yes (ten),
miles on it. Nearly everything under the hood is new or rebuilt.
This car is loaded with options: MSD electronic ignition, power
steering, power disc brakes, factory air conditioning and power
convertible top.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: The trunk is immaculate. With new fitted mat.
The spare tire and jack are in place.
This 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 Q Code convertible is a great example of
one of the most iconic big block cars of the 60s. The car is ready
to drive and enjoy.
