In 1964 Jaguar upgraded its popular E-Type with a larger version of
the highly developed six-cylinder XK engine, now displacing 4.2
liters and developing 265 hp. This beautifully restored roadster
example typifies the sleek design and nuanced character of these
highly celebrated cars. According to a certificate from the Jaguar
Daimler Heritage Trust, chassis no. 12834 completed assembly in
late March 1966, and roughly two weeks later the car was dispatched
for retail to the United States. Distributed to the famed Jaguar
Cars New York, the roadster was sold in late May to Michael
Hamilton of Chicago, Illinois.
Though the E-Type's intermediary history is currently unknown, by
2007 it had come into the care of Roy Fine of Neenah, Wisconsin.
More recently acquired by the consignor, a respected collector in
Florida, the Jaguar was treated to a full restoration around 2011
that included a high-quality cosmetic refinish in the original
color combination. The roadster continues to feature a
period-correct radio and chromed wire wheels, which, in combination
with the aircraft-style switchgear, lend the car a wonderful degree
of vintage panache.
It should be noted that while the Jaguar was affixed with a new
data plate upon restoration, the original factory chassis plate is
included. Also accompanied by an owner's manual in the proper
pouch, and documented with the Jaguar Heritage certificate, this
outstanding E-Type is reported to be in exceptional mechanical
condition, having completed a number of driving events. The
roadster would make a beautiful addition to any sporting
collection, ideal for use in vintage tours or display at local
concours d'elegance and JCNA meets. To view this car and others
