For Sale: 1913 Hupmobile Antique in Round Hill, Virginia

Vehicle Description

Working Model 20 two seat runabout. runs remarkably well for an all original. Car # 15480, engine # 15427. Starts in one or two cranks. Compression @ 65 psi all four cylinders. Magneto has been re-wound and refurbished recently. Original Breeze carburetor works well, gravity cooling system and radiator work well, clutch and transmission working well. Rear end working well. Rear is not the style originally offered with ( 1908 to 1913 ) model 20, rear may be a 1914 truck style rear as car was manufactured towards the end of the last build for this model, the serial number is internal to the gear casing and has not been opened as it works so well. The muffler bypass is in place and working with a new section of pipe. Muffler is original style serviceable unit in good working order. Four original wood spoke wheels are in place in good condition with two new tires and tubes all matching. The chassis and springs are in place and in very good condition. the carriage body and fenders are in place. no rust on body or fuel tank, fenders have some rust. Car body is painted black, may have been red originally. Car has one door on left. It appears the right hand door is in place but closed off. This may be an original feature. The car is fitted with original optional acetylene headlamps and original style B tank mounted on right side fender running board. The tank with gauge, contains some acetylene. This option plus the placement of the gear and brake levers renders the right hand door unusable. Car has been fitted with a MC tank and regulator so that the headlights may be operated safely. Two kerosene carriage lamps and a tail lamp are in place and in working order. The originally optional windshield frame and glass are the one section style first offered in 1914 on the then new model 43, all but one cover stay is in place. Car is fitted with cover pivots and rests but no top or bows are present. The upholstery is not original. It appears to be a re-do from the 1950's and in poor condition.. Bits of the original black leather upholstery are present. The seat cushion has recently been redone with a foam cushion. the Ash wood components of the car are largely original. the seat base and compartment cover have been re done with Ash. The "firewall" veneer has been redone with Ash, the original veneer is set aside. The original optional Stewart Clark speedometer head is present and seems to be in working condition with the drive gear on the right front wheel, the pinion gear and cable are not present. The car has a 1955 West Virginia title and is described as a 1909 model. This car appears to have been used regularly and maintained well in it's early years. When rediscovered, it had been parked in a garage from 1979 to 2019.
