Vehicle Description
So you want a droptop classic, but you also want something rare and
luxurious? This 1973 Mercury Cougar XR7 convertible gives you all
of this with V8 power, an A/C interior, and a terrific original
style with the right upgrades.
The Cougar was meant to be the upper-class counterpart to the
Mustang. That's especially true in the more expensive and rarer XR7
trim. The factory-correct Medium Copper Metallic has been given a
respray later in life, and the result is a nice glow that radiates
the sunlight (exactly what you want in a sunshine-friendly
convertible.) These Cougars have a more luxurious appearance that
include the angular hood leading to the waterfall grille, and the
rear bumper that nicely integrates the taillights for a clean total
look. Plus, there are nice investments here, like the newer black
folding top and Mustang-style sport wheel covers that keep this
looking nice while adding extra distinction.
The medium ginger interior completes the factory-correct colors
inside and out. This has a terrific vintage style, right down to
the high-back bucket seats that still have the Cougar logo embossed
in them. These were built to be a nice mix of comfort and sporty,
and you see that in the details, like the full center console,
wood-like trim, and full gauge package with large speedo and tach.
It really has a great classic feel, right down to the factory-style
AM/FM radio. The power folding roof means it's easy to open this
one up to the world. And the air conditioning is blowing cold with
modern R134a, so it's easy to enjoy this open-top feeling even in
the summertime.
Under the hood is Ford's famous 351 cubic-inch V8. This is believed
to be original to the car, and it has nice details, like the bold
blue factory air topper with correct decals. It looks to have been
under proper maintenance, and this V8's strong-running feeling
reaffirms that. The dual exhaust gives you a sweet sound that will
make you want to put the top down just to hear it better. And you
can really enjoy it all with ease thanks to nice driving features
like the three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, and
power brakes w/discs up front.
The sale comes with nice documentation, including the original
window sticker, owner's manual, and Marti Report. There are even
nice extras, like two convertible boot covers and a full set of
factory XR7 wheel covers. It's all part of a well-done droptop
classic of premium distinction. Call today!
