Vehicle Description
The appeal of this 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS is as clear as black
and white, literally. Because not only do you have this terrific
color combo inside and out, but also this terrific-looking muscle
machine has big block power and all the right Super Sport equipment
you want.
Chevy really got it right in '70. Quad headlights up front made
this look extra-wide, and the pillarless hardtop coupe had a
profile with a hint of fastback. It's no wonder this is one of the
most sought-after muscle cars around. The factory-correct Classic
White paint has been professionally resprayed later in life, so you
get a nice luster every time the sunshine finds the sheetmetal. And
those chrome bumpers shine nicely to add to the very bright
package. This shows all the right signs of being a true Super
Sport, and so you'll love the correct details, like the badging and
optional cowl induction hood w/hood pins. Plus, this one has a few
subtle upgrades for added sporty intimidation. For example, the
dual racing stripes are finished in a matte black. And you'll
notice the rear tires are extra meaty so you have more rubber
meeting the road.
Inside, they upgraded the upholstery from a standard black to a
tasteful black and white houndstooth. This is an iconic style for
Chevy muscle machines, and so plenty of people will want to get a
good look at it. That's also why they refreshed the carpeting and
other components to make sure this one was ready to show off. Plus,
with the Chevy three-spoke sports steering wheel and added
auxiliary gauges, this one is nice for more than just its
looks.
The clean white look of the exterior extends to the engine bay with
the smooth inner fenders funneling all your attention to the big
block in the middle. This 454 cubic-inch V8 has a nice look with a
bright block and plenty of shine on the valve covers, air topper,
alternator, and more. Plus, there's plenty of substance behind the
style with upgrades like a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock
Victor intake, an aluminum radiator, and long tube headers feeding
the Flowmaster dual exhaust. The TH400 three-speed automatic is the
numbers-matching unit for the car, and its coding offers proof that
this is a genuine Super Sport. Plus, this has the right SS
suspension features like an L34-code 12-bolt rear, boxed rear
control arms, and a rear sway bar. Add in power steering and power
brakes w/discs up front, and this is the Chevelle SS that was made
for easy cruising.
