Cincy Classic Cars is proud to offer this Stunning 1978 Factory 4 Speed Silver Anniversary Corvette which is in beautiful overall condition with low actual miles of 63,051. This Corvette is truly exciting being a Factory Silver Anniversary 4 Speed Corvette which still retains its original engine and original 4 Speed Manual Transmission. This Corvette has only been owned by one family since new with the original owner "Mr. Swangim" owning it since new until 5/2019 when he sold it to his brother in law. Mr. Swangim ordered the car new while in the Air force when he was stationed in Korea. The selling dealer kept it for him for 7 months until he could pick up the car upon his return to the States. He is now 87 years old and just could not enjoy this fine Corvette any longer. The original title comes with the car and a copy of the title from 5/2019 comes with the car when the car was sold to his brother in law. Around 15 years ago he had the car refreshed including a new paint job, a new interior installed, and several maintenance items addressed. Less than 3000 miles have been added since the restoration 15 years ago. This Corvette features a nice repaint, a terrific restored leather interior, a desirable 4 speed manual transmission, and the original great running 350 engine. This Corvette is very solid with great lines and gaps and shows no signs of visible rust anywhere around the car or underneath the car. This Corvette is finished in the beautiful and desirable color combinations of Silver Anniversary (code 13/07) over Mahogany Leather interior. This is the factory color scheme as verified by the trim tag pictured above. This Corvette comes with the original owners manual and several original dealer brochures and paperwork.
Exterior
The Silver Anniversary exterior is in good restored stock condition. This Corvette was repainted around 15 years ago and still shows well today. The paint is in good overall condition and has an excellent gloss with a smooth touch and deep shine. Its a special factory color scheme only seen in 1978 and is very much desired and collectible. There is no rust anywhere around this car and the underside is very rust free as well. Thankfully the underside is clean and honest and not covered up by cans of cheap spray paint. Both bumpers are in good overall shape. There are some minor imperfections around the car that may not noticeable in the photos, but nothing was intentionally excluded from the photos. The Goodyear Eagle tires are older but still have excellent thread and drive well and are sized 255/60/15 and the wheels are OEM originals and in wonderful shape and shine nicely. The wheels were restored and tires have less than 3000 miles on them. The t tops come on and off nicely and fit snug and do not rattle while driving. All glass is "LOF" original glass. The headlights go up and down as they should and work extremely well. The frame and underneath of this car is extremely solid and very clean and honest.
Interior
The Mahogany Leather interior of this Corvette is in wonderful restored condition. The leather seat covers are in excellent condition with no rips, seam splits, or excessive wear and were replaced with correct replacements. The carpet is in like new condition and was replaced with correct replacement carpet. The original dash is in excellent condition with no fading or cracks and the dash bezel is in great condition as well. The stereo was upgraded to a digital CD player that sounds great and all 4 speakers work and were replaced with upgraded units. The stereo was installed at Best Buy in 2004 at a cost of over $950, see receipt. The power antenna worked just fine with the factory stereo but was bypassed when the new stereo unit was installed and radio stations come in no problem with the current stereo. The original steering wheel is in excellent condition. The door panels are in near perfect condition and were replaced with factory correct panels. All interior and exterior lights and gauges work as they should outside of the clock. The horn, stereo, power windows, rear defrost, and fan blower also work. This Corvette has working cruise control which is rarely seen a 4 speed car and works well and is nice to have on long drives. The factory AC system is still in tact but currently is not blowing cold air. In the year 2000 over $1600 was spent restoring the factory AC system but now its not blowing cold, see receipt. This car has not been smoked in; there is no aroma what so ever. A working alarm was professionally installed in the year 2000 and works well with two key fobs which lock and unlock the doors and alarm the car.
Mechanical
This Corvette is in great mechanical condition and we have driven it numerous times and it always performs extremely well and is a true joy to drive, especially with the t tops off rowing through the gears. The original owner of this Corvette kept meticulous care of this special car and drove it sparingly after the restoration. There are 3 pages of handwritten accounts of work performed on this car less than 3000 miles ago. see photos above. Most importantly the original 350 engine and original 4 speed manual transmission are still in the car with matching vin stamps. Here is a list of items replaced or repaired within the last 3000 miles: The brakes have been serviced with new rotors, pads, hoses, and calipers, new plugs and wires, coil, and rotor cap, radiator was re cored, front coil springs and 4 new shocks, new steering components, new alternator, water pump and hoses, and oil change. A new battery was recently added as well. This Corvette still retains its stock style exhaust set up including the original catalytic converter. This corvette rides very tight with no odd rattles or squeaks. In the video one can observe this car running and driving with no excessive rattles or noises, and the car handles and performs extremely well. This Corvette is an exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway speeds. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It starts right away every time, idles well, and runs great. The brakes do not pull and stop as they should. The clutch feels good and it shifts easily in and out of gear. Also, the engine is clean and nicely detailed as one can see from the photos.
