For Sale: 1973 Oldsmobile Hurst in Redmond, Washington

Vehicle Description

The letting of this vehicle go is difficult and a rare opportunity for any individual. My stepfather was quadriplegic from a diving accident and this was his final restoration project. Even though he was unable to do the work, he sat in the garage and participated in the building. This attention to detail frame off restoration has less than a 2,000 miles on it, the underneath is as clean as on top with a driving experience like no other. This is one of 1,097 made during 1973 and is VIN coded (3G37U3M412271) as an original Hurst/Olds package with a 455 cu. in. engine with 400 transmission and A/C. You will enjoy coming to stop lights and experience the wonder of a loping vehicle while onlookers give you the thumbs up and then leaving the intersection with the engine roaring to life, while the tires chirp with each shift as you gain speed.

The current powertrain has been modified from the original package, but the vehicle comes with a second original engine package in storage along with a second differential and miscellaneous spare parts. The current engine (original 455 block) has been built by a local engine machine shop and bored .060 over with 4.185 forged pistons, Mondello forged H-rods, 0 gap rings, Mondello stainless hydraulic roller rockers, Mondello RT-685 roller lifters, a Mondello rh-22 overlap cam, Mondello 9.40 push rods, Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, Edelbrock Torquer intake and a Quadra Jet 750 cfm 4 barrel carb. The exhaust starts with custom headers and continues with stainless pipes and Magnaflow mufflers. The transmission is a built turbo 400 with a 3,000 rpm stall converter with a deep reservoir pan. and the rear differential has a restored Positrac.

The his/hers Hurst shifter is crisp and a joy to control with the ability to lock out automatic shifting to revel in the manual shifting experience. The interior is original with a black on black package that included pivoting captains chairs and lap belts with separate storable interlocking shoulder harnesses. The exterior package has been returned to the original white/gold Hurst/Olds package it came with at birth and is truly a time capsule back to a time where muscle cars ruled the road.

If you don't like talking to individuals in parking lots and people flagging you down to talk to you when you are driving or having police officers give you the thumbs up as you drive by, this is not the vehicle for you. This car attracts attention like none I have ever driven before. It is truly an experience owning this vehicle, if you are ready, it can be yours in its next adventures.
