Motors.) Garage Kept Motors is pleased to offer this performance M3
Convertible from a local enthusiast and friend. It is said that
among car owners, there are two groups: those who recognize that
the M3 is one of the best-balanced cars ever made... and those who
haven't driven one yet. Among M3 owners themselves, the E46
generation (2001 - 2006) is generally considered to be the closest
BMW ever came to producing a 'perfect car.' 50/50 balance...
limited-slip rear differential... naturally-aspirated high-revving
inline 6 cylinder engine that comes alive between 5,500 and
8000rpm... and a stance and posture that beg and demand to be
driven with spirit every time it leaves the garage. All these
characteristics have the makings of a phenomenal car, but inside
the E46 M3, magic happened - and the result is a driving experience
that is truly legendary (...And the responsiveness of the naturally
aspirated S54 power plant in particular has set the standard that -
to this day - turbo engineers still try - and usually fail - to
match.) It's no surprise, then, that well kept and low mileage
coupes in the E46 generation are beginning to climb closer and
closer to the $100,000 price point. E46 M3 fanatics reading this
listing in particular need to know only one thing: that as the
previous owner deliberated and researched each modification made,
he asked only one question: will this mod bring this car closer to
CSL spec, or not? If it would: the mod was made regardless of cost.
If not, the idea was tossed out.In other words, mods were in no
way thrown at this car. Rather: the owner of this car was an E46
enthusiast to the core, and consulted with other E46 experts across
the country to determine which mods would accentuate the driving,
handling, and performance philosophies as intended by the car's
original designers. Attention was primarily made to ensure that
the brilliance of the S54 engine could inhale and exhale as
efficiently and cleanly as possible, and indeed this car was tuned
nearly perfectly in this regard, featuring on the intake side: an
Evolve CSL carbon fiber intake manifold; MAF delete with an Alpha-N
tune; Schrick 'oversized' CSL racing camshaft tuned perfectly,
lifting the mighty S54's redline to 8200rpm. For ignition: A custom
tune by Alex of Performance Euroworks in Chicago. And for exhaust:
Active Autowerks sport headers, Active Autowerks performance
exhaust with high-flow catalytic converters, SuperSprint Street
'section 3' (which includes the muffler system) for a perfect M3
exhaust note. The current owner states:Of all the money I've put
into this car over my three years with it, not a single penny was
to fix an issue: it was all either preventative maintenance or
performance enhancements like those listed above. When I purchased
the car, I had been hunting for 9 months across the entire country,
searching for the finest 2006 (last and best model year) black on
black convertible I could find. This one was found as part of a
collection and was not for sale; it took me three months to get its
owner to sell it to me. When I bought it, the car was perfect and
needed nothing. Still, I gave my mechanic a standing authorization
to replace any mechanical component that fell below 95% in quality.
Every possible future issue was prevented and bulletproofed (VANOS,
sub frame, rod bearings, suspension bushings, any hose that showed
even the slightest trace of wear); every possible vulnerability in
its factory design was corrected. Maintenance items performed on
this car are too many to list, but records a
