This 2014 Porche 911 Carrera S 50th anniversary edition features a
wide body, which is typically reserved for the all-wheel-drive
Carrera 4 models. Porsche said the special edition will be
available in a limited quantity of 1,963 cars, a number that
represents the year of the original 911 world debut. For the U.S.
market, the 911 50th Anniversary Edition will be equipped as
standard with a Powerkit, which increases engine performance to 430
horsepower and includes the Sport Chrono Package. The package
adjusts the engine and transmission for high-performance driving.
It includes a stopwatch mounted on the dashboard that shows lap
distance, individual lap times, lap number and total driving time.
The 911 50th Anniversary Edition sprints from zero to 60 mph in 4.2
seconds and has a top speed of 186 mph, according to the automaker.
The special model is a coupe with a flat-6 rear engine and
rear-wheel-drive. Other details include special 20' wheels that are
a visual tribute to the legendary Fuchs wheels. They are finished
in matte black paint with machine-polished centers. Two unique
colors are available for the anniversary 911, a darker graphite
grey and a lighter geyser grey metallic. Black monochrome is also
available. The car gets special badging and interior details. The
cabin gets gauges with green labeling on the instruments with white
pointer needles. The seats get a retro 'Pepita' tartan design from
the 1960s. A recent demographic study found that the number 1 car
purchased by the highest majority of men was the Porsche 911.
