For Sale: 2005 Chevrolet SSR in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Vehicle Description

With just 22,900 meticulously maintained one-owner miles, this 2005 Chevrolet SSR offers a great opportunity to own and drive something truly special. Chevrolet's Super Sport Roadster concept drew enthusiastic praise from the press and the public at the 2000 Detroit Auto Show. So it became available to the public as a 2003, when it appeared as the Official Pace Car for the Indianapolis 500. Autoweek said, "For years GM took a beating in the press for introducing auto show concepts never heard from again, unlike their friends at Chrysler. So we can only take partial blame, er, credit for the SSR." The design is reminiscent of Chevrlet's "Advance Design" pickups from the late 40's and early 50's. Like those classic trucks, the SSR used deep draw stampings to form its front fenders, replicating the vintage design. Another great feature of the SSR is the retractable hardtop. Engineers from GM, ASC and Karmann USA expended considerable effort to make this a quick, convenient one touch operation. It takes just 20 seconds to retract the top. The truck is loaded with all the power options; steering, brakes, windows, locks, windows, and memory seats, along with cruise, delay wipers, and a rich-sounding Bose stereo system. 2005 was a great year for the SSR because it packed some serious punch at 390 horsepower, a whopping 90 horsepower gain from the previous model year. The LS2 was a great high performance powerplant, also seeing duty in the C6 Corvette, the Trailblazer SS, and the Pontiac GTO. The wheels and tires are unique to this vehicle with massive 20x10 wheels on the back and 19x8s in front. Goodyear contributed special rubber for the project with big 295/40R20 meats in the back and 255/45R19 tires up front. Tom Wallace, vehicle line executive for the SSR said, "There are three reasons we decided to build the SSR. First, it's pretty cool, a halo vehicle for Chevrolet. Second, journalists all said we should build it. Third, Rick [Wagner, GM Chairman] said we should build it." This bright red beauty is remarkably like new. It's an excellent example of Chevy's halo vehicle and it's available now for the first time.
