When placing the add 6.9 was not available but it is when searching. This is a 6.9. This 1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SEL 6.9 was sold new at Mission City Imports in San Antonio, Texas, and is said to have remained with the family of the original owner until 2006. I purchased it in 2016 and relocated it from California to Florida. The car is finished in Astral Silver Metallic over a blue interior and shows 145k miles, approximately 5000 trouble free miles added by me the last 3 years.
Power is from a 6.8-liter V8 mated to a three-speed automatic transmission and the car comes with a clean Florida title. The car was repainted at some point and shows very nice. 14” wheels wear Michelin Harmony tires. The car is equipped with a self-leveling hydropneumatic independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes.
Service completed approximately one year ago by Mercedes-Benz of Palm Beach. The car is in original condition and must be seen and driven to appreciate. I've driven the car on occasion for months at the time (Short commute) as my daily driver and it is just a joy to drive. The interior is trimmed in blue with matching carpets and door panels. Factory equipment includes a sliding sunroof, automatic climate control, and a Becker Mexico cassette stereo. Some cracks are present in the dashboard and in the wood trim, and there are some stains are noted on the headliner near the sunroof, I plan to correct this if I keep the car.
The 6,834cc M100 V8 features dry-sump lubrication, aluminum cylinder heads, sodium-filled valves, and Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission and a 2.65:1 limited-slip differential. Work performed in 2018 included the installation of a replacement air-conditioning module. I have several video's of cold and hot starts and anyone is welcome to visit my AC car storage and have a look. AC is ice cold.
There is one tiny spot that maybe rust on the right rear triangle window, no change in the 3 years I have owned it.
Otherwise the car is in great drivers condition. According to Hagerty's guidelines it is a very solid #3 condition, or almost a #2.
The car does really well at C&C, or any car show, but I bought it as a great new looking but a drivers car, not just a show car.
