This is a beautifully restored 1961 Daimler Dart (SP250) that has
the desirable B Specification with the additional chassis supports.
The little-known Daimler has a 2.5 liter V8 with hemi alloy heads.
With 140 hp and weighing in at a mere 2,000 pounds, it was one of
the fastest cars in its day. Top speed was about 125 mph. Thank
goodness for its four wheel disc brakes! Fewer than 2,700 examples
were built over five years of production. We love the beautiful
Black paint that is complemented well with all re-chromed and
polished stainless trim. The black livery is stunning when
contrasted with the chrome wire wheels and the tan convertible top.
All the paint was removed and the body prep was done well. There
are a few noticeable seam lines where the fiberglass joints meet.
The chrome and stainless are in generally excellent condition, the
side view mirrors are original and have not been re-plated. Inside
the passengers compartment the luxury continues with an all
lambskin leather interior that is literally as soft as glove
leather. The seats form well to your body and have added headrests.
The rear seat exists, but is largely appropriate for placing
groceries, luggage or perhaps golf clubs. The steering wheel is an
aftermarket wood steering wheel that feels very nice in your hands.
The steering is adjustable, an option from when it was new. The tan
heavy vinyl convertible top is in very good condition with one
small tear where one of the snaps are fixed. It also has a tan
tonneau cover for use when the top is not being used. This example
has benefited from a thorough professional restoration that is
documented with photos and 92 pages of invoices, totaling about
$95,000. The restoration was done by The Guild of Automotive
Restorers in Ontario, Canada. The restoration includes most items
including removing all the paint, body prep and repaint, re-wiring
the electrical system with a new harness, new chrome and polishing
the stainless, new interior and top, new rubber trim, brakes,
wheels, new gas tank, etc. The restoration came in two waves, the
lions share was from November 2003 though 2006 and was performed by
the Guild for Chris Morgis. Later work was performed in 2016. A
recent compression check shows about 155 ft lbs of compression in
each cylinder. This Daimler was ordered new by O'Donnell Mackie
