For Sale: 1956 Dodge Coronet in Prattville, Alabama

Vehicle Description

SOLD! SOLD! SOLD!   $38000 Net. Kissimmee.  You should have taken my price. Look at it 1 more time. 1956 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer powered by a special order D-500 Hemi.  PRICES HAVE GONE UP STRONGLY IN THE COLLECTOR CAR WORLD.  Folks, I'm only going to have it on here a couple more months. Maybe.  After that you can see it under the "lights". But the price will be higher. FOR THOSE OF YOU FOLLOWING THIS CAR, $30,000 IS THE ASKING PRICE. THIS IS NEGOTIABLE!. THIS IS NEGOTIABLE!  A REASONABLE OFFER CAR. TELL ME WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO PAY.  OWN A LEGEND! GREAT CAR TO ADD TO THE MOPAR LOVER'S COLLECTION.   IF YOU NEED FINANCING, I HAVE THE BEST CONTACTS IN THE WORLD.

The car is equipped as follows:  315CI "Super Powered Super Red Ram" 315 Hemi, Engine stamp D500 #1765, Push button Power Flite transmission, dual Carter 4bbl with progressive linkage, Offenhauser intake manifold, dual Red Ram air cleaners, radio delete. The mileage is believed to be original. This car is very rare. Coronet Lancers with D500 engines are extremely difficult to find. The car presents as a grade 2. This could be a car to complete a Dodge or Chrysler collection, maybe a museum collection.  How many Hemi Coronet Lancers exist is not known.  The D-500 engine denotes THE MOST POWERFUL ENGINE from Dodge for 1956. Just like the 426 Hemi was the most powerful engine from Dodge in the 60s. In 1956, randomly selected Coronet Lancer equipped with D-500s set or broke 306 standing speed records. These records were at Bonneville and tracks such as ovals or drag strips. In 1956, Arnie Beswick set stock class records in drag racing at 106 mph.  The car uses the Dodge Custom Royal Lancer as its basis.  The actual race car version is known as a D-500-1. My car is the street version. This is a muscle car from the time before the term was coined.  The Hemi powered  Dodge Coronet was developed under Chrysler President W.C. Newberg by Carl Kiekhaefer of Kiekhaefer Racing. The styling was by Virgil Exner.  My D500 Hemi starts, runs, drives and stops the way a car from the mid 50s should.  Even though there is no power steering, this is one of the nicest steering cars I have driven. It feels a little like electric assist. The interior is believed to be  original according to the previous owner and looks excellent. The car had a thorough body on restoration approximately 10 years ago. I am selling the car because of its rarity and believe the car should be kept in a totally climate controlled environment so it can be preserved in as nice a condition as it is now. I am a driver/hobbyist not a collector. I've driven the car regularly and enjoy driving it.  The car has some provenance and has been looked at by 2 of the leading Dodge/MOPAR experts. Coronet Lancers in this condition sell for upwards of 40K. I have the price backed down so a buyer can account for shipping and taxes. Feel free to make a reasonable offer.  These cars are almost impossible to find and compare. You can inspect the car by appointment. I'll buy your ticket home if you don't buy the car.
