Fully restored 1979 Jeep CJ5 Renegade Silver Anniversary Edition. Jeep built about 800 of this collector edition to commemorate 25 years of CJ production. Each dealership was offered one. This is one of about 142 remaining in the Silver Registry which authenticates the model to prevent fakes. This CJ was fully restored by "Just CJs", a well-known Jeep restoration shop, with care to maintain originality. The restoration was done in 2018 and the strong straight six engine rebuilt about 4 years ago.
EXTERIOR:
Body off restoration down to bare metal and painted original Quicksilver, unique to this edition. Frame repainted as well as all other underside components. New Silver Anniversary stripes and new Bestop and fender flares.
INTERIOR;
Dash and rollbar painted in Quicksilver. New, hard to find, SA black upholstery with silver buttons and stitching. New carpet and shift boots. New speedometer, fuel gauge and oil pressure gauge with senders.
MECHANICAL;
2018 restored transmission and transfer case, clutch and linkage. Engine rebuilt about 4 years ago. New brake system, tie end rods and tie ends, bushings, fuel pump, carburettor, water pump, starter, power steering pump and hoses. Distributor rotor, cap as well as plug and wires. New exhaust system, shocks, U joints and body mounts.

There are a few flaws in the restoration. While no rust or filler there are some areas of the tub around door openings and rear wheel wells that show wavy irregularities. There is a 2" crack in the upper part of the dash pad. There is a 1/4" hole in the rear window hidden by the spare tire and there are some mounting holes in the center console. The windshield washer is not hooked up.
SUMMARY:
The Silver Anniversary CJ is one of the most collectable models and this is one of the best in existence. It runs and drives great with strong engine and smooth transmission. Power steering is a welcome accessory . All gauges and electrical work well . It is ready to show and enjoy.
