Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1967 Jaguar E-Type OTS, a
numbers-matching, two-owner car with 91,000 original miles and
known history to new. First sold in Salt Lake City where it has
remained its entire life. The current owner since 1998 has kept
this car as part of a large collection and driven it sparingly,
although it has seen extensive recent service in preparation of the
sale. This is a mid-1967 production car with open headlights but
with all other Series 1 details present (triple SU carbs, polished
valve covers, toggle switches in the dash). Some would consider it
a Series 1.5, but based on the car number many guides call it a
late Series 1 (and the JCNA judging standards label this a Series
1.25).
Paint and body show to a nice driver standard - the car was
repainted once in 1985 in the original shade of primrose. The dry
Utah climate has been kind to it - original floors with no known
rust, aside from a few minor bubbles forming in the rear wheel
arches low and just forward of the rear wheels. Excellent door gaps
and bonnet fitment. Bumpers, chrome and glass are all in very good
original condition; the wire wheels are newer and especially nice
(and are wearing new Pirelli tires). Convertible top and boot cover
are believed to be original, with patina; this example also comes
with a rare fiberglass hard top (see photos).
Interior is completely original with all surfaces showing light
patina but no significant damage. Nice door cards, dash and
steering wheel. All gauges, lights and switches are working
(including instrument lights); original Blaupunkt powers up but
emits no sound.
Under the bonnet is the original, numbers-matching 4.2 liter XK
twin-cam inline six fed by triple SU carburetors (the head is also
numbers-matching). Four-speed manual transmission shifts well with
no crunchy synchros. Recent service includes a complete brake
overhaul with pads, rotors, calipers and lines with rear remote
bleeders, suspension refresh including shocks and most bushings,
steering rack rebuild, aluminum radiator, new fuel tank, Pertronix
electronic ignition and a fresh oil service. Mostly stock aside
from performance exhaust. This E-Type runs and drives
beautifully.
Factory tool roll, matching wire spare and jack in bag are included
with the sale, along with a copy of a 1974 Utah title (at which
time the owner transferred the car to his family's trust), plus
lots of service records from the 1980s and 1990s. For more
