Vehicle Description
For a quick refresher on how evolution works, look no further than
the Ford Mustang. Each generation gets more powerful, more capable,
and more comfortable, all to keep up with the Bowties across town.
This 2008 Ford Mustang Roush Stage 3 428R is a super rare (only 200
were ever made), beautifully preserved, unmodified specimen, but
don't for a minute think that it's a pushover. Not with 435
horsepower on tap, a quick-shifting 5-speed, and a snarling dual
exhaust, it's not.
The Candy Apple Red Metallic color adorning this beauty is rather
rare and it's is an excellent choice on your big horsepower
Mustang. Elegant, pure, and accented with profile hockey stick
stripes and a matching decal on the hood, it's not just the
horsepower that does all the talking. The 5th generation Mustang
bodywork retains the classic look and there's no question that this
one has Blue Oval blood running through its veins, although the
Roush body kit makes it look even sleeker than before. Obviously,
it's always been a fair-weather toy and not a daily driver, and
with 13,106 miles on the clock, it still looks virtually new. There
might be a nick here and there and that's only because nothing is
perfect (although to be frank, I didn't find one), but we're
guessing that this car enjoyed being babied almost every weekend.
The finish is spectacular, far better than you'd expect for a
mass-produced pony car, and the Roush upgrades do make the all-new
Mustang look longer, lower, and yes, nastier. You'd be a fool to
mess with this car on the street.
Inside you get black leather (what else) and a few special touches
that were all part of Jack Roush's special Mustang. Embroidered
sport seats are supportive and comfortable and it's easy to get
comfortable behind that fat three-spoke steering wheel. Other
upgrades include a custom Hurst shifter, carbon fiber dash
appliques, white-faced gauges with Stage 3 callouts, as well as a
few Jack Roush signatures that are a big part of a limited
edition's appeal. All the other Mustang features made the
transition untouched, including cold A/C, power windows, locks,
mirrors, and seats, cruise control, and a kickin' AM/FM/CD stereo.
We dig Jack's dedication to making the car faster and it shows
inside where there's no extraneous gear, just the stuff you need
for the serious business of driving. The trunk is standard Mustang,
so it's got plenty of room, and this car also carries the
ultra-cool and very expensive custom Roush tool kit built into the
trunk lid. You're going to love it!
Power comes primarily from that big honkin' supercharger sitting on
top of Ford's 4.6 liter V8 engine. Called the "Roushcharger," it
delivers enough boost to generate more than 435 horsepower and 400
pounds of torque. Famed Roush tuning means it runs and drives just
like a stocker and it's docile enough that your grandmother could
drive it every day and not know the monster that lives within.
Other goodies include a full Stage 3 suspension with a wheel hop
reduction kit, a custom exhaust that sounds magnificent, and a few
under-hood dress-up items, not the least of which is the polished
supercharger case. There's more Roush badges under the hood, and
because this is the ultra-rare 428R, not the more common 427R, you
get a polished blower, even better suspension, and one-of-a-kind
badging to let everyone know that the big boy's in town. It's also
got the big brakes to keep it under control, with 14-inch 2-piece
rotors and 4-piston calipers up front and custom slotted rear
rotors. Roush also provides a set of chrome 18-inch wheels that
look nasty and are shod with sticky Nitto rubber that's one step
removed from being racing slicks.
Always exclusive and always fast, this very special Roush delivers
more of everything that makes the Mustang great. Beautifully
preserved and well documented, this is the one to keep for
posterity. Call now!
