For Sale: 1965 Shelby Daytona in Port Charlotte, Florida

Vehicle Description

  • rude, noisy, and mean

This is a Factory Five Gen one.  Necessary paint work was completed recently.

351 Windsor engine bored and stroked to 408 cu in. Comp Cam and lifters, aluminum heads. Needle rocker arms with rocker stud girdles. Four Weber 48 IDA carburetors. Tremec T-56 six-speed with Quick Time scatter shield. Independent rear suspension, with 2004 Cobra aluminum center (4.10 gear) final drive in 6th gear 2.54.

I did not build this vehicle.

Vintage air conditioning runs fine and was recharged after the new compressor. The rear window is glass. Wheels are pin drive knock-offs, safety wired. Florida title and antique plate as 1965 FFR 3 door.

Repairs included: both heads removed and valve work, new gaskets, starter replaced, installed MSD 6Al ignition box and corrected poor wiring, replaced rotor, and distributor cap.  All carburetors were synchronized and run fine.

New air conditioner compressor.  A new battery installed. New Cooper Cobra tires front and rear. All spark plugs are new.  All wiring from the distributor is new.

The door was adjusted minor paint damage repaired, a pint of color-matched blue paint included.  New Cooper Cobra tires 235/60/15 and 295/50/15.

Other important information:  This not a big car.  A buyer came with his enclosed trailer and had not sat in such a vehicle.  He was about 6ft 2 inches and weighed perhaps 250lbs with a size 12 shoe.  He did not fit well.  He would need the Shelby Roadster seats which sit approx 2 inches lower.  My seat is adjustable, but not far enough back for his long legs.  The brake and clutch pedals have been adjusted for my short legs and can be switched back for extra room.

This car is a replica of a 1965 Shelby Daytona Coupe, but constructed from 2008 to 2016.  As such,  it does not meet import regulations for Europe.  I have had inquiries from France, Belgium, and Switzerland.

Thanks for your interest.               asking  $51,000     No trades, please.
