Vehicle Description
When Dave McLellan replaced Zora Arkus-Duntov as the chief engineer
for Team Corvette, he had some legendary shoes to fill. Assuming
control in 1975, McLellan led the brand through some of the darkest
days of Detroit performance. By 1983 change was on the horizon, and
at the forefront of that change was the highly evolved
fourth-generation Corvette. With timeless looks, cutting-edge
technology and storied small block power, the long-awaited C4 was
destined to be viewed as a major milestone in American sports car
history. This awesome red-on-white coupe is a super nice survivor
that's been carefully maintained for over 25 years. If you're in
the market for a top-notch example of one of Chevrolet's most
desirable Corvettes in some of the Corvette brand's most desirable
colors, you're looking at your next classic!
LITTLE RED CORVETTE
Bathed in vivid Torch Red, this crisp Vette features stunning
presence that's highlighted by a spectacular, show worthy shine.
Steal one glance down the sides of the car's slick body and it
becomes very obvious that, over its 38,424 miles, great care was
taken to maintain a factory-fresh appearance. Step closer to the
car's wet looking finish and check out straight and ripple-free
panels that aren't plagued by any cracks or major imperfections.
Grab the car's well-adjusted hood and feel how smoothly it opens to
provide excellent fit that's set off by a glossy clearcoat sheen.
If you like vintage Corvettes that are completely true to their
assembly line state, they don't get more authentic than this!
ALL-AMERICAN V8
From the original 283 cars to the newest mid-engine marvel,
Chevrolet has done an excellent job keeping performance alive
behind the Corvette cross-flags. This smooth coupe continues that
work with one of GM's venerable 5.7 liter LT1 V8s. Not to be
confused with the moody LT-1 of the 1970s, this version was
introduced in 1992 as a thoroughly modern form of small block
motivation. The foundation is an iron, 4-bolt casting, topped with
aluminum heads, that utilizes speed density fuel management,
batch-fire injection and a dedicated ECM to twist 300 horsepower
into 340 lb./ft. of street-slaying torque. Known for its good
manners and calm demeanor, the LT1 is a great street engine, and
this one breathes through a throaty Borla exhaust system. And a
simple stab of the go pedal serves as a quick reminder of Team
Corvette's illustrious performance history.
FOUR TIMES BETTER
Behind that hot small block, a proven ZF 6-speed distributes power
to a factory Corvette differential. With ample torque on tap, this
Vette is plenty quick off the line while retaining mild highway
manners thanks to tall rear gears. The C4 chassis was engineered to
compete on an international level, mixing fluid power steering with
aluminum control arms, aluminum uprights and aluminum half shafts.
Stops are handled by power-assisted calipers, which clamp four
vented discs. Everything moves on machined aluminum wheels, which
spin 255/45ZR17 Firestone Firehawks in front of 285/40ZR17
Firestone Firehawks. And the bottom of this coupe is every bit as
nice as its spotless engine compartment and glossy exterior panels,
showing minimal wear and almost no signs of weathering.
WHITE LEATHER FOR THE WIN!
Good preservation is key to any vintage car's interior, and this
C4's cockpit looks factory fresh in virtually every way. The plush
driving environment kicks off with a pair of power-adjustable
buckets that are stitched in awesome White leather. In front of
those buckets, a leather-wrapped and cross-flag branded steering
wheel laps a conservative dash that's fitted with a combination of
analog and digital telemetry. Inside that dash, the car's modern
center stack anchors electronic climate control above a premium
Delco Bose sound system and a snazzy, white-booted shifter. And
naturally, all the amenities and conveniences you've come to expect
in a modern ride are present and accounted for, including power
mirrors, power windows, power door locks, and Cruise Control.
The best aspect of owning a clean C4 is: whether you decide to
drive it or stash it, you own a genuinely great car that's capable
of comfortably traveling anywhere. While every subsequent
generation of Corvette has shared the same set of goals, this one
marks the first whole-hearted attempt at transforming America's
best sports car into the world's best sports car. Don't miss your
chance to take home a fantastic example of one the coolest
Corvettes ever assembled.
