For Sale: 1971 Plymouth Road Runner in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Started life as a factory Tor-red Sebring Plus. It is a dry, rust free car that lived in Phoenix. Same owner the last 6 years has taken very good care of it. Just inspected and dialed in by a highly respected mechanic. This car looks and performs exceptionally well. It has won many trophies for the last owner.

EXTERIOR: Rare factory colors. Tor-red (which is Hemi orange on a Dodge) and black painted roof. Fit and finish is pristine. I have a lot of beautiful cars that look beautiful, this one is better then most of those. Has original rust free metal. Not a ripple or a bubble. Even along the bottom it is smooth and straight. The gaps have a precision fit, like a new Mercedes. The paint is polished smooth as glass. Has the Road Runner twin scooped hood with 440 graphics. Has spoiler on the trunk. Front bumper is rechromed, grill is detailed. All the stainless trim around the windows and gutters is polished. Sport mirrors and door handles are excellent. Original bumper in back has some freckles. 15 inch Rallye wheels look like they're brand new. Has BF Goodrich tires bigger in back for that muscle car look. Door jambs still has clean original paint and weatherstrips.

INTERIOR: Overall the interior is very nice. The two tone seat upholstery looks new. Carpet is new. Console is excellent, has pistol grip handle on shifter. Headliner is very nice, has one very small tear. The instrument panel is excellent and it has a factory AM-FM radio. There's also a modern stereo mounted below the dash, a tachometer on the column and an oil pressure gauge down below. The dash pad does have a crack in it. The door panels are very nice original. The dash pad the top corner of the driver side door panel has cracks from the Arizona sun.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It was born a 383 big block car but has been upgraded with a 1970 Challenger 440. The engine bay is perfectly clean original metal, no signs of damage or rust repairs. I believe most of it is original paint still. Still has original fender tag in place. Upgraded Edelbrock intake and carburetor. Has external vacuum reservoir because of a hotter cam. This is a factory air conditioned car but has been updated with a more modern compressor and R134 freon. Alternator looks new. Has Chrysler radiator with the shroud and clutch fan. Also features power steering, power brakes and the Road Runner "Meep Meep" horn.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Looks to me like it still has mostly original paint in the trunk. Completely rock solid clean original metal, even the 1/4 panels. Has jack assembly and spare. Weatherstrip is original, still has a part number on it.

UNDERSIDE: The front end was completely rebuilt- new balljoints, bushings, tie rods etc. Bottom of the motor is spotless, has chrome oil pan, starter looks new. The headers are wrapped in heat wrap to keep the heat away from the motor. The 727 Torqueflite automatic was just rebuilt to handle a lot of horsepower at a cost of $2,500. Nice custom exhaust with stainless mufflers and long chrome tips. Brakes are excellent. Has disc in front, e-brake is hooked up. The metal is as virgin as you will find. No rust, repairs or patches. The floors, frame rails, rockers are dry clean metal. Even the lower inner 1/4s are spotless and still have the factory drain plugs.

It has won several trophies for the last owner, now it's your turn to be a winner! Its had many compliments in the short time we've had it so far. It's one of those cars that stands out as being better then most the others.
