For Sale: 1960 Austin-Healey BJ7 in Stratford, Connecticut
The Austin Healey 3000 was the third iteration of the "Big Healey," a family of performance-oriented sports cars developed by Donald Healey. While the 100-4 was powered by a 2.6 liter 4-cylinder engine, it was eventually replaced by a larger in-line 6. Wanting more performance out of these capable roadsters, Healey increased the displacement of the 100-6's engine to a full 3.0 liters and introduced the Austin Healey 3000 in 1960. The new 3000 offered the best of the best to driving enthusiasts with standard front disc brakes, a 4-speed synchronized transmission, dual carburetors, and, for the first time, the option of rear seats in 2+2 BT7 roadster. The 1960 Austin Healey 3000 offered is a first-year MK I 2+2 BT7. This California car was purchased five years ago by its current owner, who has performed substantial restorative work. This 3000 sports a fresh coat of factory red paint and a reupholstered interior, both done within the last three years. The Colorado red paint over a white and red leather interior suits the character of the car perfectly, highlighting the flowing lined of the "Big Healey" bodywork. The odometer reads 85,342 miles, which is believed to be accurate, and the engine received a complete rebuild in 2016 with brakes and service work performed by a leading marque specialist.
