This beautiful 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible is one of the best examples known to exist which is evident with the prestigious awards it’s earned. It’s a two-time (MCA) Mustang Club of America “Gold” National Award winner and AACA “First” and “Senior” National Award winner. These awards are included with the car. It’s also earned many other awards at various car shows including “First Place”, “Best Engine” and “Best of Show”. These awards aren’t included with the car. It was featured in “Mustang Times” and “Mustang Monthly” magazine. These magazines are included with the car. It was also featured on Powernation and Travel Channel’s 36 Hours TV. Most of the awards, magazine articles and TV spots were in 2014 and 2015.  As the VIN number indicates this car was built Dearborn, MI as a 1966 Ford Mustang 2-door convertible with a 6cyl 200ci engine. The car was built on Monday January 17th, 1966. It was originally Arcadian Blue with a standard interior.  This car was restored by Terry Reinhart the owner of “Resurrections from Rust”. The nick name “Elizabeth-Marie” was given by Terry which was his wife’s and daughters middle names. The entire restoration is fully documented with photos on their Facebook page. As the photos indicate this car was the product of an extensive nut and bolt restoration with no expense spared. The vision of the restoration was to build a correct concours car. Many hours were invested researching what was correct for judging purposes. Most of the sheet metal was replaced during the restoration. The car is loaded with many original and NOS parts. The restoration was completed in 2013 and has been driven roughly 7,000 miles since completion. It’s been proven to be very reliable and drives wonderfully. The exterior body is very straight with great gaps throughout. The hood, doors and deck lid open and close very nicely. The exterior was finished in its original color of Arcadian Blue. This is a beautiful color and easy on the eyes. The paint work is high quality and has been detailed to a brilliant shine. The color is complemented with a new white power convertible top. This car didn’t originally have a power top but it only made sense to add the power option during the restoration. All of the exterior glass has the factory stamps and is in excellent condition. All of the exterior trim is NOS and in excellent condition. The trim on the rear quarter windows does have some pitting. The car sits proudly on US Royal 6.95-14 bias ply white wall tires with spinner hub caps. The original standard interior was replaced with a completely new deluxe blue and white “Pony” interior. This interior package included such items as a woodgrain steering wheel, woodgrain instrument bezel, woodgrain glovebox door, two-tone seat covers with embossed ponies, sculpted door panels, pistol grip door handles and carpeted kick panels. It’s also equipped with the Rally Pac gauge cluster and air conditioning. The air conditioning system was restored correctly for the MCA judging standards and works great. The trunk compartment was nicely restored with the factory style trunk mat, matching spare tire and jack. The engine compartment is highly detailed throughout. It has all the factory correct colors, parts and stickers. The car is powered by a correct date coded 1966 200ci Inline-six cylinder engine. This engine was completely rebuilt and runs beautifully. The engine surprisingly has a lot of pep. The engine is coupled to a correct C-4 automatic transmission which was also completely rebuilt. The power is transferred to the 7 1/4 inch rear end which was also completely rebuilt. The undercarriage is also highly detailed throughout. It has all the factory correct colors, parts and paint marks. This is a mirror quality undercarriage. Everything underneath the car was restored or replaced during the restoration including such items as the exhaust system, steering unit, braking system, suspension components and gas tank. The convertible top cover, owner’s manual and factory tags are included. This car is extremely classy and will always be an American Automotive Icon.
