Vehicle Description
West Coast Classics are proud to present a beautiful example of
this customized 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle 2 door Hardtop which has
been customized as an SS clone with SS emblems and hood and built
with a 454 V8 engine matched to a 4 spd manual transmission and a
12 Bolt Posi-traction limited slip differential rear end and which
is finished in a striking classic 'Silver' tribute color with
'Black' racing stripes with a matching 'Black' interior. Ready to
show or cruise. The Chevrolet Chevelle needs no introduction and is
legendary amongst muscle car enthusiasts as a rugged car and
therefore a perfect candidate for customizing - this particular
example has a later model 454 V8 (casting # 14015445 1975-87)
engine matched to a new 'Richmond T10' 4 spd manual transmission
and a new 12 bolt Positraction 3:42 rear end with alloy axles. This
1970 Chevy Chevelle 2 Door Hardtop Custom is a very striking custom
which resembles a factory SS model and is favorably equipped with a
Big Block 454 V8 matched to a 4 spd manual transmission! In 1970,
Chevrolet introduced the ultimate powerhouse for its midsize muscle
car and was voted the best muscle car of all by 'Car and Driver'.
It was also the year GM lifted its displacement ban on all its
midsize muscle cars. Today, it is regarded as one of the most
fearsome muscle cars of all time. GM built the car to show up Ford
and Mopar and the all out performance of the LS-6 454 had the
competition shuddering. The all-out performance engine of 1970 had
a factory rating of 450 bhp and no other muscle car production
engine had a higher rating. By 1972, the last year of these
desirable models, the bhp had dropped to 270 bhp. This particular
car's original factory engine was exchanged at some point for this
later model Big Block 454 V8. The Chevelle SS combined Chevrolet's
largest engines with its midsize car to give outrageous results and
the original SS factory option package included the F41 suspension
with stiffer front springs to compensate for the weight of the big
block engine, a black finished grille, a left hand remote control
sport rearview mirror, Super Sport SS emblems, power front disc
brakes and rear drum brakes, dual exhausts to optimize the engines
performance, the factory option cowl induction hood with a vacuum
controlled flap at the top of the hood to draw air in from the high
pressure area at the base of the windshield to help the engine
exploit its power, bucket seats, the special cowl induction domed
hood with NASCAR style tie down hood pins which secured the hood
from lifting during high speeds and wide wheels and tires on 5
spoke Magnum 500 steel wheels. This particular SS tribute 'clone'
has very striking classic 'Silver with Black racing stripes'
paintwork which is in absolutely exceptional condition, as it the
whole car. Please note that the car also has an after market CD
player installed under the dashboard (see photos below). This
particular car must be seen and driven to be fully appreciated -
the engine is extremely strong and responsive with excellent oil
pressure and no oil leaks and which sounds absolutely magnificent,
the 4 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly through the gears
and the engine temperature always remains cool. This is one very
fine example of a highly desirable and collectible muscle car with
no rust or signs of any previous accidents or bodywork with its
seemingly all original sheet metal in turn-key ready daily
appreciating, daily driving and daily head-turning condition! An
all time classic American muscle car that needs little or no
introduction!
