Here is a beautiful Lakester recently completed by a retired Muroc
Dry lakes salt flats racer in Mojave California. Built on a 2 x
4-inch square tube custom frame, rolling on unique wide five wheels
built by Wheel Smith co. using one-off special multi lug bolt
pattern adapters fabricated by owner Powered by a 1950 Ford flat
Head FULL HOUSE motor equipped with Offenhouser high compression
heads and intake manifold sporting dual 97 carburetors, with
Magneto ignition. Coupled to a late model Ford T5 five-speed
transmission via a hydraulic clutch system to a Winters Quick
change rear end, rolling on Wide Five custom Wheel Smith wheels
with owner fabricated multi lug adapters, Rolling on huge BFG tires
all around. Has an IDIDIT chrome tilt column. Has dropped and
drilled I beam front axle with one of a kind ldquo;Rack amp; pinion
rdquo; steering. Seldom seen on a solid front axle like this. Has
modified adjustable friction shock absorbers all around. The
vehicle is street legal and licensed as a ldquo;1913 Ford Model T
rdquo; In Oregon. All lights, turn signal, stop lights, and
ldquo;oogaa rdquo; horn work. Covered with fire engine red paint,
upholstered in boat quality tan upholstery. Has a unique gas tank
with owners ldquo;Racing logo rdquo;, custom lettered and painted
to match fiberglass Speedway Motors body. All parts are either
ldquo; base coat/clear coat rdquo; , Chromed, powder Coated, and or
Ceramic Coated Most parts are ldquo;Best of the Best rdquo; items
from Speedway Motors. No cost spared in the construction of this
