Super attractive 1996 Jaguar XJS Convertible for sale. This original, California car has traveled only 56K miles over its pampered life. Sold new at Sacramento Jaguar on December 7th of 1996, this XJS is a very nice example of an accident-free, rust-free and well cared for California Jaguar. After giving up on finding his perfect dream Sunbeam Alpine, the current owner purchased last July from its 2nd longterm owner only to find that Sunbeam a couple of months later. Since he doesn't have space for two extra cars he has decided to let his newly found Jaguar go to make room for the Alpine.
This is a lovely car. I personally own two Jaguars and have had many in my inventory over the years. The 6-cylinder XJS is a great car. It is lighter than the V12 and much more nimble also easier to work on making it a truly affordable post-modern luxury classic. The benefit if the lighter weight inline 6 cylinder also improves the longevity of the suspension components while still producing plenty of power.
The 4.0L I6 Dual Overhead Cam motor starts runs and drives well. The transmission shifts at the correct shift points, the suspension is excellent and the braking is nice and responsive. The car received new pads and rotors around 2,500 miles ago. A major service was performed last year at 55,800 miles at British Car Service of Sacramento including fuel injection flush and service, new spark plugs, new air injection pump and more. Also, the air conditioning compressor and systems were rebuilt by the previous owner. It is in very nice shape.
The paint appears to be all original with a nice glossy shine all around and a very straight rust-free body. The chrome, lenses, glass are in good shape along with the convertible to in good working condition.
Inside the leather is still very nice, rugs, panels, seating, and wood present well. The convertible top boot cover is present. All gauges, switches, lamps, wipers, etc are in good working order.
