In 1982 production began on the Trihawk 304, named for its 3 wheels and 4 cylinder engine. Production would only last until 1985 and was limited to approximately 96 vehicles, but the significance of the Trihawk was recognized by Harley Davidson who the brand and design shortly after production stopped. The Trihawks 304 is a unique machine, registered as a motorcycle but utilizing a Citroen GSA motor and transmission, with truly impressive handling only seen in the most performance-oriented sports cars. Because the Trihawk used lightweight fiberglass construction and did not require the typical enclosed body or four-corner suspension found in most vehicles, it weighs in at a svelte 1,3750 pounds with a full tank of gas. This allowed the relatively low power output of the air-cooled 1,299cc flat-four engine, rated at 67 horsepower, to propel the Trihawk to 100 miles per hour. Power, however, was not the primary concern when building the vehicle. The front suspension and rear trailing arm were borrowed from the Renault R5 and custom-tuned for the new chassis. Its wide font track and low center of gravity helped the Trihawk hold steady at over 1 lateral G on the Road&Track skidpad, as good as the contemporary Porsche 911, Lamborghini Countach, and Chevrolet Corvette. This 1983 Trihawk 304 has been exceptionally cared for by the same owner since it left the showroom floor. The single owner has driven it regularly over the years and has accumulated 78,000 miles. The OEM Bumblebee Yellow paint shows very well and is free of any significant scratches, rock chips, or cracks. The interior is in similarly clean condition, with the original side-by-side bucket seats remaining in perfect condition. The vehicle comes with the factory soft top and zip-up windows. Substantial service history is available, as well as genuine Trihawk memorabilia.
