For Sale: 1963 Oldsmobile Jetstar I in Canton, Ohio

Vehicle Description

Extremely Rare 1963 Oldsmobile Jet fire original factory Turbocharged, Methanol injected aluminum V8, hardtop coupe. Only a few of these are left on the planet in working condition (about 16).

Very original survivor, all stock. This car is rust-free from day 1. Always garage kept. It is in incredible original survivor condition for a 56 year old car. You will be hard pressed to find a better example.
Everything works as it should, it runs and drives great with no issues, and it is fast.

The Jet fire is very rare and hardly ever seen! It gets LOTS of attention at shows. This is a previously forgotten and car model and always draws a crowd..

This is a real and original Turbo Jet fire for the serious collector.
The Oldsmobile Jet fire was only made for 2 years and is the World's first Turbocharged Production car. A few thousand were built. Most people have never heard of these special cars, and with a lot of Turbos being used in many late model cars these days, it has become Historically Significant and a Benchmark Automobile as the first one ever.
Jet fires were Special Built: Jet fires were factory modified to accommodate the special TURBO ROCKET Turbocharged Engine and Methanol injection system. The body was special made for the Jet fire. In 1962 Oldsmobile took a F85 convertible body and welded on a Buick Skylark hardtop (at this time, there was not a hardtop in the F85 line up) to create the Jet fire Hardtop Coupe. Only the Jet fire was a hardtop in the F85 line. No convertible or window post Jet fires were ever made.
This engine is a work of art and an engineering masterpiece being an all-aluminum 215CI 8 cylinder with a factory turbocharger.
The Turbocharger is a Garret Ai Research T-5 built for Oldsmobile that puts out 5-7 psi of boost. The engine compression ratio is 10.25, so there is NO turbo lag. The Methanol injection system stops engine detention and is controlled by the amount of boost produced. The Turbo waste gate will open if the fluid runs out, so there is no way to damage the engine.
This motor was one of a few to have 1hp per cubic inch at the time (215hp/215ci, 301lbs torque). Curb weight is only 2750.

Body: Beautiful 100% rust free with all original panels even the floor. Body is still very original and straight with no waves or dents, which is rare to see. The car still retains some original paint with some correct color match paint blended. It has the look of original paint and it all matches excellent. The paint shines very nice and looks very good. There are a couple very small paint chips with correct touch of paint on. I photographed this there are about 4 on the drivers rear upper quarter panel and I believe 2 super small ones on the hood the size of a pencil point.
All glass is original in excellent condition with no scratches or chips. The car still has the original window and door weather-stripping. Trunk still has original sound deadener in center if it, also has the original trunk mat.

Exterior trim and brightwork: near all the trim is in excellent condition; Front and rear bumpers are original and the chrome is in very good condition. All the side moldings are incredible with no dents or issues. The windshield and back window trim are perfect. The lower rear window chrome trim is perfect as well with no scratches or pits. Even the front vent window door molding trim are excellent with no rust or pits and the chrome is nice the bright. The grill and rear trim under the trunk is perfect with no issues. The only chrome or brightwork pieces that have any small issues are taillight bezels. The top and sides are great but there is some small pits on the lower inside chrome. Nobody makes these new. There is a shop that has rechromed some pairs of originals but he wants $700 a pair for them.

Interior: The interior is excellent ORIGINAL condition. Original factory Turbo boost gauge and Turbo Rocket Fluid monitor works perfect. All gauges and controls work: Heater, Radio, lighter, oil and temp lights, speedometer, gas gauge, All 5 interior and glove box lights. The upholstery is original (not reproductions) and are in very good condition. The red has a metallic shine to it. The seat padding is super thick and has not deteriorated at all, the Burlap is all intact on the underside of the seats with no rips. The seat frame underside is unrusted bare metal. The front and rear seats are so nice for being 56 years old.

The carpet is original and has no rips or fading at all. The seatbelts are all original with also no tears or fading and have super clean factory tags still intact. The chrome has no pits. The steering wheel has no cracks and looks like new. The center console has no cracks and has great factory color. The dash pad is all original with no cracks or issues. The Deluxe radio is unmolested original and the original chrome is in excellent condition with no pitting. I took detailed pictures of up under the entire dash it is 100% untouched and MINT condition. You just don’t see original cars this nice that are 56 years old.

Collectors are just finding out about these cars and values have started going up fast because there is an extremely limited supply. There are a 2 or 3 examples that have sold over the past 5 years.
This car is one of the rarest cars out there as it is 1 of only a handful left with working Turbo and how many survived out of those in excellent survivor unmolested condition.
