For Sale: 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

I have always thought the 53 Chevy makes a good looking hot rod. The bulging body panels when given some meaty tires and a good stance make a great look. This one has good ingredients and it's from a good owner. He is a collector that knows how build and maintain them.

EXTERIOR: Very clean body. Every panel is straight, no rust or damage. The paint is polished to a smooth high gloss finish. All the chrome looks brilliant. The side moldings and emblems were removed for a clean look. Tinted glass, darker in back. Great looking polished wheels with fatter tires on the rear for a nice stance.

INTERIOR: The metal has all been repainted a satin gray finish. Good looking set of Stewart Warner gauges were installed with a hot rod style Sun tachometer on the dash. Knobs, heat- a/c controls and vents were neatly installed. Beautiful steering wheel has polished wood rim and aluminum spokes and it is on a tilt wheel. Very comfortable seating upholstered in gray tweed. Door panels upholstered to match. Has gray cloth headliner and visors, dome light works. Has seatbelts front and rear. Yes, that's a 4-speed sticking out of the floor!

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Has a GM crate 350-275 hp motor. Very reliable runner. Has aluminum intake and Holley carb. Has heat and air conditioning system that works. Also has power steering. The entire compartment is dolled up nice with chrome. Runs cool with the help of an aluminum Griffin radiator with a shroud.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Has carpeted floor with bound edges.

UNDERSIDE: Very solid floors, rockers and frame. Upfront it has Mustang II independent suspension with coil over gas shocks and rack & pinion steering. Bottom of the motor is clean. Has heavy duty bell housing and a Muncie M-21 4-speed. Uses a hydraulic clutch. In back it has a Ford 9 inch rear with posi gears. It also has tubular control arms and air shocks. Has full exhaust out the back with Flowmaster mufflers and dumps. Has disc brakes at all four wheels.
