For Sale: 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

The first generation Chevrolet Nomad is a true all-star. So, how do you make a car that's already as cool as this 1957 Nomad even more desirable? You start with reliable hardware wrapped in a vivid, massaged body, throw in modern conveniences and line the interior with a handsome color combination. If you like your 'tri-five' to be show ready AND fun to drive, but a Bel Air is just too common, this incredible '57 Nomad is just what you've been looking for!

PAINT AND TRIM

Despite the red hot sales of the Bel Air, their higher priced Nomad stable mates were not as popular as you might think. Throughout the years, neglect and abandonment has made them even rarer. Fortunately, this '57 has been the beneficiary of a thoughtful restoration that saw solid sheetmetal married to bright trim. Familiar Bel Air stainless appears free of any notable flaws, and the chrome bumpers show mirror-like reflections. And the smooth body is covered in attractive Red two-stage with even panel gaps all around.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Lift the hood to reveal a small block 350 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 that's upfitted with modern performance. A 4-barrel carburetor is fed air by a Walter Prosper Twin Charger air cleaner and sends the mixture through a polished, Edelbrock intake. An aluminum radiator keeps operating temps cool. And a Billet Specialties Tru Trac system mounts components for modern air conditioning and power steering. That small block sends power to a TH2004R 4-speed auto with overdrive, back to a factory GM rear axle.

CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION

That drivetrain is cradled in a solid frame that's been fitted with welcome upgrades that makes for an enjoyable driving experience. Up front, tubular control arms are supplemented with power rack-and-pinion steering. Power brakes feature discs up front and drums out back. A Flowmaster-equipped exhaust system travels over a rear, leaf-spring suspension. And power meets the pavement through Nitto NT555 Extreme ZR tires that wrap polished Intro wheels.

INTERIOR

Inside, modern conveniences meld with traditional appeal. Front and rear bench seats are covered in fresh red upholstery with dark cloud pattern inserts framed by silver piping. Those seats face a familiar, body-matched Bel Air dash that hosts traditional gauges, controls for air conditioning, and modern audio that sends tunes through an amplified stereo system, complete with JL Audio subwoofers. Clean, black carpet is protected OE spec rubber floor mats and is flanked by traditional door skins. And the driver grips a traditional steering wheel that mounts a vintage MOON tachometer.

It's no wonder the Chevrolet Nomad enjoys such huge popularity. With enough room and power to comfortably take a weekend trip, and enough curb appeal to win trophies at the show; it's the perfect combination of form and functionality. Call your friends at RK Motors and lock in your dose of Americana!
