DIRECTORYSTUNNING VIRTUAL TIME CAPSULE, READY TO ENJOY AND
PRESERVE! Despite renewed challenges from Lincoln, Cadillac
positioned itself for continued leadership of Americas luxury-car
market in 1965 with freshly restyled models with simplified
bodylines and replacement of its once-fashionable tailfins in favor
of smart, blade-type rear fenders. A new perimeter-type chassis
replaced the old X-member frame design and provide improved
passenger space and comfort. More solid and quiet than ever before,
the 65 Cadillac models also delivered better steering and handling.
Widely acclaimed by the automotive press and buyers alike, the
new-for-1965 Cadillac line was reorganized with traditional
numerical model designations replaced by the Calais, DeVille and
Fleetwood lines. The Calais line brought Cadillac ownership to a
wider audience and included a hardtop sedan and coupe, along with a
traditional sedan. This very nicely presented and highly original
1965 Cadillac Calais hardtop sedan was purchased in 1980 by the
father of the prior owner at under 4,000 miles. Only an approximate
4,550 miles are indicated and given the wonderful condition of this
vehicle, believed original. Features and options include
power-assisted brakes, steering, windows, antenna and door locks,
plus air conditioning, a radio and rebuilt clock. Very well
maintained and clearly benefiting from proper climate-controlled
storage over the long term, this Calais retains the wax pen marks
applied at the factory during production, still visible on the
drivers side inner fender. It even rides on the original Laredo
whitewall tires, while the original spare tire appears never used.
The 100% original navy interior is very well preserved and remains
as-new throughout in appearance. Ample power is delivered by a 340
HP, 429 CI Cadillac V-8 engine with four-barrel carburetor, mated
to a Turbo-Hydramatic 3-speed automatic transmission. As expected,
documentation is excellent, including such original items as a
letter from Cadillac, an original insurance card and
Protect-O-Plate. Featuring low miles, great documentation and
irreplaceable originality, this 1965 Cadillac Calais is an amazing
find for Cadillac collectors and enthusiasts alike! Contact us to
