1931 Essex Super Six Rat Rod
A couple of buddies had seen the body of this car sitting in a yard for several years. They figured they'd make an offer and turn her into something driveable.
When they approached the brothers who owned the car, they were ready to sell and let her go. The brothers had already done work to customize the frame, boxed it, etc.
The two buddies brought her home to their garage and promptly dropped in a good deal of components from an 85 Corvette; Front and Rear independent suspension, power rack and pinion steering and power disc brakes front and rear. They had a GM TH400 and a mid 70's 350 V8 (roughly 275-300 HP) kicking around and mated that with the TH400 and dropped that right in. They sourced as set of comfortable buckets from a mid 80's Camaro, custom cut sheet aluminum and diamond plate aluminum for the floors, roof panel and firewall, added headers and 3" dual exhaust, an aluminum radiator, Harley Davidson billet mirror, some cool looking bolt head covers and an OOOGAH horn to complete the deal. The body has been painted the standard Rat Rod black and has a special access compartment in back to house the fuel cell and allow access to the rear shocks and springs. Sitting on Wide 60's in the back and Nankang front tires, wrapped around red stealies in the rear and red Cragars up front.
This car really gets up and goes and weighs nothing, so the torque and HP of the 350 make this car twist and squirm as she very easily gets out of her own way... She's quick!
As with most rat rods, they are a constant work in progress as they change and morph into works of art.
