Vehicle Description
1979 International Scout Custom
Why This Car Is Special
If you are looking for an award winning modified 1979 International
Scout, we have a great one here at Skyway Classics.
Mechanical
This Scout was first built about 15 years ago and has been a labor
of love of the owner ever since. It has parts out of 8 different
vehicles starting with a 1975 body on a 1979 chassis with a
Traveller 392 cubic inch engine that was rebuilt and stroked out
.60 thousands to a more powerful 440 cubic inch final size with
plenty of stump pulling power and torque.
Both of the 4x4 axles are all top of the line as everything has
been rebuilt from top to bottom including the automatic
transmission, high capacity radiator, springs, shocks, and all
other suspension parts.
Interior
The beautiful interior has twin reupholstered vinyl and cloth
bucket seats, new carpet, a 1980 model air conditioner which is
smaller but more efficient, center console, sport steering wheel,
great restored dash, factory gauges, radio, and a clean and
detailed rear storage are with spare tire too.
Exterior
The pale blue paint is setoff great by the white hard top that is a
cut down by 18 inches Traveller top. There was only three in the
world done like that, and this is one of them.
It has newer Cooper Cobra Radial GT tires on factory rally wheels
with polished centers and trim rings as well as a great sound with
the dual exhaust system and turbo type mufflers. The chrome
bumpers, trim, and glass is great and it even has a towing system
on it too.
Conclusion
The modified 1979 International Scout we have here at Skyway
Classics, runs great, stops great and is a blast to drive. You will
have a lot of fun driving and even showing this Scout at car shows
as the previous owner states that he never took it to a show
without getting a first place trophy!
