My truck has been a daily driver. Runs great!
Story: I purchased the truck about 10 years ago from a guy in Chicago instead of buying a new truck. It had a previous partial restoration. My plan was to give it to my grandkids when they went off to college 10 years from now (they grew up with it) but after a couple of neck surgeries this year, driving an old truck wasn't conducive to my neck health.
A month ago, a friend pointed out a rust hole at the bottom of the cab, driver's side. I hadn't noticed it before. It had been parked along my garage wall for a long time. I took it to an auto body guy who did another friend's '60s truck. He told me that to cut, patch inside and out with metal, and to finish, it would be between $400-500 depending on how difficult it would be to remove the running board and fender.
WORK I HAVE DONE: replaced the ball joints, tie rods, shocks, painted the grill, moved the spare from the side and tucked it up underneath the bed, pulled the side boards, swapped out the tires with my Jeep Cherokee tires, replaced the rear lights with tractor LED lights, replaced front headlights with the newer headlights, wiper motor replaced, heater blower motor replaced, added another visor, added another door lock, installed a battery shut-off key, and added a large Pelican case in the bed.
