Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo /
930 Coupe. This 930 was recently imported from Japan where it was
treated to a fairly radical build that pays tribute to the RUF,
Gemballa and RWB cars that have become so popular in recent
years.
This is a factory black car showing 32,000 kilometers with a
date-code correct engine and its option code sticker intact. While
we don't have much history about its life in the Land of the Rising
Sun, our inspection and a brief analysis by an expert in the field
reveals that it is running standalone Motec EFI, Promodet turbo,
HKS wastegate and boost controller, large intercooler, B&B
headers with converted T4 turbo flange, and large free-flow
exhaust.
There are many RUF upgrades as well including the desirable
five-speed dogleg gearbox, big-brake upgrade, gauges, and
RUF-branded intercooler. We are not astute enough to guarantee the
authenticity of all of these parts but feel comfortable with the
gearbox and its RUF stampings - and the giant RUF embossed Brembo
brake calipers.
What we can certify is that it goes like hell and stops equally
well. The suspension was treated to adjustable Biot coilovers and
staggered 19-inch wheels are wearing 235 and 305 width Yokohamas.
The interior remains mostly intact with a nice dash and headliner.
Bolt-in roll cage, Bride racing seats, a large boost gauge
replacing the clock, RUF-style steering wheel, RUF embroidered rear
parcel shelf and custom door panels. The paint remains in good
condition and a 964-style body kit has been fitted; the
graphics/stripes are vinyl and could likely be removed without
damage to suit your taste.
There are many possibilities with this one as the mechanicals seem
excellent and clearly a ton of money has been spent on performance
upgrades - it's the fastest 930 we have ever driven but remains
streetable and easy to drive off-boost. It is offered on a clear
Georgia title with a clean (if thin) CarFax report. For more
