Like its incredible appearance, this Stingray's engine highlights
classic Chevy appeal with a virtual lifetime of technological
improvement. Lift the carbon fiber hood and you'll find GM's latest
and greatest LT1: an all-aluminum V8 that twists a stout 460
horsepower into an impressive 465 lb./ft. of tire-shredding torque.
The newest incarnation of Chevrolet's venerable small block
utilizes Active Fuel Management, continuously variable valve timing
and direct fuel injection to provide a reliable mix of Main Street
efficiency and world class performance.
THE CHASSIS THAT PUNCHES ABOVE ITS WEIGHT
For the most part, Corvettes have always been great track cars, and
this slick coupe benefits from decades of engineering prowess and a
few tricks learned by Chevrolet's factory-backed race teams. The
car's wide fenders frame a 5-mode independent suspension. At the
center of the floors, a rev-matched Tremec TR6070 7-speed engages
an electronic limited-slip differential and sporty, 3.42 gears.
Speed-sensitive variable-ratio power rack-and-pinion steering
ensures turn-in is light and constantly engaging. At the corners, a
standard antilock braking system clamps 4-piston calipers on 12.5
and 13.5-inch slotted rotors. Optional multi-mode dual exhaust
takes the soundtrack from soothing to brutal with the stomp of a
foot. And power pounds the pavement via optional Z51-style wheels,
which spin 245/35ZR19 Michelin Pilot Super Sports in front of
285/30ZR20 Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
LEATHER CHARM
Behind this Vette's sculpted doors, Jet Black leather is tightly
threaded around sporty GT seats that feature 8-way power adjustment
for both the driver and passenger. Front-and-center, a
leather-wrapped dash plants digital telemetry next to Chevy MyLink
infotainment. That tech, accompanied by dual-zone climate control,
pipes Navigation, Bluetooth, MP3s and XM Radio through a crisp Bose
sound system. Below that dash, a leather-wrapped console balances a
French-stitched shifter between clean carpet, a small Stingray
plaque and snazzy Corvette sills. In front of the driver, a
leather-wrapped steering wheel caps a tilting and telescoping
column. And naturally, all the luxuries you'd expect in a high
dollar sports car are present and accounted for, including OnStar,
