1977 Mercury Marquis, 1 owner, 71K miles.
Purchased brand new in 1977, they traded in a 74 Pontiac LeMans and took this GOLD beauty home. Gold over Gold over Gold. Official color is Medium Gold. This is a one owner car.
Only 72,000 miles, most of those highway miles to and from Toronto, Canada, are on the 400 V8 under the hood. They bought this Marquis in gold because it reminded them of the fleur de lis, the well known French Canadian symbol.
The car was well maintained and is still in very good condition.
The car did suffer one minor accident years ago and the front right door was repainted.
The car was the family road trip car however, in 1992, when the father passed away, the car was relegated to the garage. It has always been under a cover and his wife would start her up and run her every once in a while.
She decided awhile ago that it was time to bring her out and get her sold onto a new home.
As I mentioned, she is in great condition, inside, out and even underneath, there is some surface rust on the frame and two small pinholes on the rear fender skirts, however, other than that she is rust and rot free and very solid. She starts and runs well. Prior to putting her out for sale, she was treated a new radiator and new battery.
She does drive well too however, she'll definitely need tires and could do with a good tune up and going over as she hasn't been driven regularly out on the road since 92.
This Marquis has the gold vinyl top, flip up headlights, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Cruise Control, A/C (currently isn't working and because the compressor clutch was making noise, she cut the belt), Power antenna, vinyl bench seats front and rear and a trunk that sleeps 3.
Asking price is $9,000 or best offer.
