There's something to be said for owning a classic car that you can
enjoy daily if you so choose. And as we see a younger generation
start to show interest in the muscle and pony cars of old, here at
Shelton Classics and Performance we have started to notice a trend
from buyers of both young and old. Lately, an increasing number of
buyers are specifically hunting a great looking car that is a blast
to drive, feels great on the open road, but has more personality
thanks to a timeless look. They don't want a trailer queen, they
aren't concerned with numbers matching, and more often than not,
the importance isn't necessarily present or future collectability,
but instead only one thing matters... How does it drive?! Which
brings us to this absolutely gorgeous 1968 Ford Mustang
convertible.
This Mustang is a fully-sorted weekend cruiser that is perfect to
show off at the local cruise in or car show, but trust us you wont
want to leave it parked there for long. 5-minutes behind the wheel,
and you'll appreciate this car on a whole new level. Today this
convertible sits in one of the best Mustang colors of all time -
Candy Apple Red. Fully painted in January of 2019, the body is
straight and shows a mirror like finish. Inside you'll find a very
clean and tidy standard black bucket seat interior that shows very
well. The black bucket seats are in great shape and features new
carpet as well as a brand new power soft top was installed with a
glass back window in February of 2019.
Pop open the hood and you'll find a fully detailed engine bay that
houses a fresh 302ci V8 that has been outfitted with a Edelbrock
4-bbl carburetor, Edelbrock performer intake, chrome Ford Racing
valve covers and Power Steering. The engine also has more tasteful
upgrades like a MSD distributor and coil, and if you look closely
you'll see the 4-wheel power disc brakes that help ensure its ready
for a simple 10-minute drive up the block or a 250 mile drive to a
show.
Underneath of the car shows a few panels have been replaced on the
floor. We've seen undersides cleaner, but this car is meant to be
driven and enjoyed, so you wouldn't want it show worthy. More
importantly, the front end features new lower control arms, new
poly eurethane bushings throughout and a new front sway bar. You'll
also see the Ford 8.8" Rear End, dual exhausts, and air shocks
equipped in the rear. At the corners you'll see the new 17" US Mag
wheels that show off the 4-wheel drilled and slotted rotors very
nicely.
If you are in the market for an incredible pony car that is certain
to become the envy of everyone you know, then this is it! We've
seen a lot of mustangs come through here in various stages of
condition, but if you are hunting a toy you can enjoy and actually
put on the street, but don't want to shell out $50k for a trailer
queen, then you would be hardpressed to find a nicer Mustang than
this!
