This ½ ton 5-window 3100 pickup is largely original, including a well-maintained 235 straight-six engine and rebuilt 4-on-the-floor transmission. Updates I know about are:
The cab upholstery is original, as is the sound and solid wooden bed.
It’s lived in my carport for the twenty years I’ve owned it and been put to light duty: runs to the dump, carrying firewood, moving friends, a little construction. The speedometer was replaced recently, so the 54,696 odometer reading is meaningless. I’ve probably racked up 3-4,000 miles in twenty years, and don’t know details of its history before that. It cruises smoothly in town and on the highway. In tight spaces, the lack of power steering calls for some muscle.
This is not a flawless blue-ribbon show truck. The prize I get whenever I’m out and about is a steady stream of thumbs-up and knowing smiles.
