Vehicle Description
It's not just that this 1996 Chevrolet Corvette comes in an awesome
color combo, and has ALL the desirable features, including the LT4
V8, six-speed manual transmission, and the F45 adjustable
suspension. It's that this well-respected and loaded survivor
offers all this for such an affordable price.
It's the final year for the C4 Corvette, and Chevrolet did a
fantastic job of evolving this sleek sports car. The long hood with
flat front end made this look like it was out to cheat the wind,
and this flush-fitting sleekness followed all the lines of the car,
right down to the gas cap. That's why the C4, and especially the
convertible, always has embodied what a speedy machine should be.
This one does it particularly well. The body panels fit with the
kind of flushness that instantly conveys a well-respected modern
classic. The paint is believed to be the original application, and
it retains the kind of gloss that keeps this a sunshine-ready
droptop (plus, there's just something special about the look of a
sleek black Corvette!) And while the body has a blackout package,
it draws even more attention to the bright buzzsaw-style
alloys.
A black car with a black roof is awesome, but the real distinction
happens when you lower the top. There is just something timelessly
classic about a black and tan color combo that will fill you with
pride every time you show this one off. In fact, this one looks
extra clean and there are even newer seat covers to make sure it
looks good whenever someone gets drawn in for a closer peek. But
more than just the way this one looks, you'll love it because a
modern classic provides all the features you want. It includes
power seats, power windows, power locks, dual airbags, and
provisions for R134a air conditioning. Plus, the AM/FM/CD stereo is
an upgrade that includes an aux input for your iPod and USB port to
charge your phone. But what will really excite you about this C4 is
how much this is a driver's machine. The stick shift feels
confident in your hands, and the mix of digital and analogue gauges
give the feeling of piloting a jet fighter.
When shopping for a final-year C4, collectors go looking for the
red cover on the motor. That's the sign of the optional 350
cubic-inch LT4 V8. The 330 hp engine boasted a number of
improvements, including high flow fuel injectors, higher
compression, and a completely revived valvetrain (including
performance cam.) The result was the speedy fun you always knew was
hiding in the sleek lines. With such a desirable upgrade, we are
glad to see this original powerplant looking so correct under the
hood. It's all correct right down to the red Grand Sport tag that
reminds you only the best got the LT4. With a fully independent
sports suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, grippy ZR tires, and the
full control from the six-speed manual transmission, this is an
impressive performance package. But no matter if you're a collector
or a driver, you'll love the optional F45 Selective Real Time
Dampening suspension package. A forerunner to MagneRide in modern
Corvettes, a computer uses current ride data to calculate the
damping mode for optimum control. It can then individually adjust
special shock absorbers every 10 to 15 milliseconds. This did not
find many takers in 1996 because it was one of the most expensive
options on the list...but this one has it!
The best features, the best color combo, and the best year all come
together in this outstanding C4 Corvette. So at a price like this
you know you need to hurry and call today!
