Studebaker is a company that had its roots tied all the way back to the horse and carriage. Finally entering the automotive world by acquiring EMF and eventually changing the name to their own. In 1928 Studebaker introduced its straight eight engine and from then on it became one of the best cars on the road. The President model actually established land speed records that went unbroken for 35 years. In 1941 the third generation of the President was created and was one of the most attractive with a much more modern look than its predecessors. Still retaining the President's famous straight eight engine, the 1941 President was a great powerful car. Lasting only until 1942, it would be the last president produced.
This 1941 President coupe is a very nice example, and one of the few surviving examples of the last generation Studebaker president, and one of only a few coupes. Overall a very nice solid car coming from the southern part of the United States. The 312 cubic inch straight eight engine runs very well and the three speed transmission shifts as it should. The upholstery is very well done in the correct cloth material and all of the original bakelite interior trim and knobs are all in like new condition. It was repainted some time ago, but the paint has held up very well and the light and dark blue color combination is very striking on this car.
