For Sale: 1965 Superformance Cobra in Charlotte, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

Mixing 535 horsepower with world class athleticism, this sophisticated MKIII roadster is a literal case study in what made the original Shelby Cobra endlessly appealing. And what's better: with names like Superformance, Tremec and Ford Racing on its specs sheet, this professionally-assembled sports car will outperform, and outlast, just about any classic on the road!

As the only Shelby licensed replica of the original 1965 Cobra, this roadster's sublime Superformance body utilizes high quality, hand-laminated fiberglass to create a rock-solid drop-top that provides a first-rate driving experience. Those stiffly reinforced panels, never tracked or abused by either of the car's two owners, feature the smooth surfaces and typically tight gaps we've come to expect from top tier Cobra replicas. And those clean aesthetics found conservative Titanium Metallic 2-stage under a roster of show-stopping details.

Tilt the tidy hood and you'll find 460 cubic inches of stroked Ford Racing Cobra Jet that, according to the car's current owner, twists a hearty 535 horsepower into 530 lb./ft. of tarmac-torching torque! At the peak of those inches, a polished air cleaner swirls wind through a coated Holley carburetor that's outfitted with stainless fluid lines and an electric Holley choke. That 4-pot feeds an aluminum high-rise intake, which is bolted to aluminum Cobra Jet heads. Those heads hang finned Cobra valve covers between polished breathers, roller lifters, a roller cam and a forged rotating assembly. MSD 6AL ignition jolts a quality MSD distributor, which is sequenced between loomed Taylor plug wires and an MSD Blaster coil. At the front of the mill, billet pulleys spin an aluminum water pump between a painted expansion tank and a polished alternator. Those ancillaries feed a canted radiator, which fronts two electric puller fans. And ceramic-coated headers evacuate spent gases in to Jet Hot-coated side-pipes.

When it's time to put the wind in your sails, forget about rowing an outdated Toploader 4-speed because this modern-day Cobra blisters the pavement with a fresh Tremec 5-speed. That tough TKO600 utilizes a smooth hydraulic clutch to spin a fresh, 8.8-inch pumpkin, which mixes a posi-traction differential with big, 3.73 gears. That drivetrain rides a Superformance heavy wall Jig-welded frame, which is married to a fully independent Superformance suspension. At the front of those bones, manual rack-and-pinion steering tightens up turns while providing plenty of vintage muscle car feel. At the corners of the floor, a quartet of power-assisted calipers clamps a quartet of vented discs. And power meets the pavement through attractive Knock-Off Wheels, which twist 255/60R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As in front of 295/50R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As.

Inside this roadster, the builder continued the theme of respecting classic form. Low bucket seats stretch pleated leather hides under 4-point Deist safety harnesses. In front of those seats, a wrapped dash frames a locking glovebox opposite a predictable combination of Smiths and Lucas telemetry. Below that dash, sleek carpet floats Cobra-themed floor mats around a polished handbrake, a driver-oriented shifter and a polished fire extinguisher. The driver spins polished spokes and a classy wood rim around an AC centerpiece and matching AC foot pedals. And the passengers stash baggage in a fully finished trunk.

Well assembled, thrilling to drive and ready to deliver the ride of your life, this Cobra is sure to satisfy anyone who has a pulse. Why waste valuable time waiting for a car to be built when we have a first-class roadster sitting right here in our RK Motors Charlotte showroom? Don't miss your opportunity to own this spectacular turnkey classic!
