Garage Kept Motors.) When the Thunderbird was a new vehicle, Ford
described the Thunderbird as a A Personal Car of Distinction in
some of their advertising. This car is certainly a distinctive
Thunderbird with a lot going for it. Restored to a high standard,
this car is pleasing to the eye, drives as smooth as expected, and
is an iconic American Vehicle. This car is finished in a white hue
that is very similar to 'Colonial White' that Ford offered on the
'57 Thunderbird's palette of colors. The restoration was done in
the mid-90's by a reputable local body shop. This car was
originally Gunmetal Gray with a two tone black and white interior.
Sure a first generation Thunderbird is attractive in any color
combination, but the sporty red interior, white exterior
combination catches our eyes. The exterior is in beautiful
condition and features recently re-chromed bumpers, 'Turbine' wheel
covers, rear fender skirts, white soft-top and matching hardtop.
From the curvy front fenders to the finned rear fenders, this car's
exterior is pleasing to the eye, and finished to a high standard.
The deep red interior gives a stark contrast from the clean, white
exterior. Like the exterior, the interior has been finished to a
high standard, with all trim and brightwork being in excellent
condition. For '57, gone is the gauge cluster with a clear 'hood',
replaced by a tight grouping of round gauges that are surrounded by
engine turned aluminum trim. As seen in this car, an optional
'Volumatic' signal seeking radio was the ultimate luxury item for
the '57 TBirds. The radio automatically raised or lowered the
volume based on vehicle speed, and had a 'Town' or 'Country' switch
to determine how hard the radio should search for a signal. (Town:
Strong signal, Country: Weak signal.) Under the forward canting
hood is Ford's optional 312ci Special V8 (D Code) mated to a
2-Speed Automatic Ford-O-Matic transmission. The engine, topped by
a 4 BBL carburetor is nestled in a very neat engine bay that has
all the little details right down to the washer fluid reservoir.
The underside of this special TBird shows very well, and is solid
in all areas. Park a personal car of distinction in your garage in
the form of this beautiful Thunderbird. The distinctive design of
the Thunderbird and the color combination on this car are timeless
highlights. The ability to drive a piece of Americana is something
you can always enjoy. Be sure to check out all the photos and video
