Vehicle Description
In 1963, Mercedes-Benz introduced the 230 SL on their sporty new
W113
roadster chassis, replacing the classic 300 SL and 190 SL models of
the
1950s. By 1968 the 280 SL was delivered with an even more powerful
2.8-
liter inline six-cylinder engine that was a big hit with the
American market. A
true survivor, this 2-seat open Mercedes is wonderfully original
and fully
prepared for your enjoyment.
Look closely, as this 1970 280 SL is a show-quality example of the
model
series, and with a documented 44 year ownership by a dedicated
enthusiast,
this 280 SL was obviously treated to the care necessary to maintain
it in
excellent original condition, and it is offered with just 7,134
miles showing. It
is, of course, delivered with the removable Pagoda hardtop, factory
air
conditioning, and the pure joy of owning a fine Mercedes sports
car.
Bid on this car in person at the RAND Luxury Auction on October
12th.
