Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera
Targa. Finished in Guards Red over black leather interior, it
recently underwent a full cosmetic restoration and is easily among
the nicest G-Body Targas we've ever seen. This car has no known
rust and no history of accident damage. But until last year it was
still wearing original paint, which showed some rock chips and
sandblasting on the hood and leading edge of the fenders, plus the
passenger door had some dings and scuffs. The car's current owner
is a perfectionist - simply put, he wanted the car to be perfect,
and the minor flaws bothered him. So he commissioned a glass-out
repaint (in the original color, of course) at one of Atlanta's best
body shops. Restored Targa top with all new seals. The Fuchs have
also been professionally refinished and are wearing new
Pirellis.
Combined with an interior refresh and professional detail inside
and out, the result is a car that looks as good as it did when it
rolled out of the factory in Stuttgart. Seats have been
reupholstered; very nice original steering wheel, dash, door
panels, headliner and carpets. Original and desirable Blaupunkt
Monterey cassette stereo.
The 3.2 liter flat six runs well and pulls strong; 915 five-speed
manual gearbox feels great with no crunchy synchros. New clutch
1,000 miles ago. Very dry underneath with no observed leaks. The
car feels tight and "put together" just like a 45k-mile example
should.
Even the newest 3.2 Carreras are now 30 years old, so even
low-mileage examples often show some wear due simply to age. If
