Vehicle Description
All you have to do is look at our sold inventory page to confirm
that tri-five Chevys are some of the most popular and in-demand
collector cars on the planet. Factory-correct tri-five Chevys,
especially '57 convertibles, tend to leave our RK Motors Charlotte
showroom almost as fast as they arrive. And if you want a
chrome-laden show boat that's great for garage parties and Saturday
afternoon parking lots, a car like that is all well and good. But
what about enthusiasts who demand more? Combining a healthy dose of
resto-mod attitude with one of the best automotive designs ever
produced, this irresistible 210 is a high-power monster that puts a
new spin on an old favorite. Best of all, you can have all this old
school MoTown swagger AND upgraded mechanicals for significantly
less than the cost of any restored-to-original concours queen!
SOPHISTICATED STREET ROD
Showcasing timeless Chevrolet lines that are draped in resolute
green and silver paint, this fantastic 210 is the beneficiary of a
high quality, frame-off restoration that created one chic classic.
After spending many years rolling down the road as a bone-stock
bowtie, the car's solid body was shipped to a professional shop for
a high dollar overhaul. Once completely stripped and thoroughly
worked, that body's panels layered smooth base under tough clear.
And today, this slick resto-mod is right at home turning heads on
the road OR logging points at the show!
Not surprisingly, this Chevy's dynamic pigment creates a fabulous
foundation for a select array of mirrored bolt-ons. At the front of
the car, a smoothed bumper frames a polished grille, LED parking
lamps and modern headlights that sport stylish halos. At the top of
that grille, a smoothed hood flows to smoked glass, which seats
polished wipers beneath polished frames. At the base of that glass,
a silky profile centers shaved doors behind '56 210 trim spears.
And at the back of that profile, a smoothed and tucked bumper
splits the difference between a requisite trunk crest, Magnaflow
exhaust tips and LED taillights that hide a relocated fuel
filler.
CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE POWER
Gaze upon this sedan's body-matched engine bay and you'll find 6.2
liters of small block fury! Officially known as the Chevrolet
Performance LS376/480, that $8,438 crate engine twists respectable
10.7 to 1 compression into 495 horsepower and 473 lb./ft. of
torque. At the top of the block, a monochromatic air tube funnels
wind in to a proven GM throttle body, which feeds a lightweight GM
intake. That air meets spark in rectangular-port L92-style heads,
which ride under body-matched coil covers. A nodular crank,
powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons compress that
volatile union. A racing-inspired LS Hot Cam maximizes intake
efficiency through better breathing. Speaking of breathing, the
smooth mill funnels spent gases through coated, long-tube headers.
There's a polished PRC radiator that's slid between a polished
support, polished fluid reservoirs, a polished condenser and spry
SPAL puller fans. Polished serpentine components spin a polished
alternator opposite a polished AC compressor. Quality Infinity Box
wiring combines with stainless fluid lines, a Powermaster XS
starter and requisite AC Delco plug wires to detail otherwise
purpose-built performance. And, as you likely deduced from our
high-resolution photos, the all-aluminum mill rolls in a detailed
frame that's finished with billet braces, Eddie Motorsports
supports and a smoothed firewall.
POLISHED AND POISED
Not surprisingly, the bottom of this road ready tri-five continues
the theme of pairing proven hardware with enhanced technology.
Behind the awesome small block, a smooth shifting Tremec TKO600
5-speed, built for 600 horsepower, sends thrust to an aluminum
Moser 9-inch that's equipped with tough Strange axles. That
driveline hangs in a full Art Morrison chassis that's fitted with
beefy sway bars, modern coil-overs and polished tubular control
arms. Turns come courtesy of power rack-and-pinion steering. Speed
is scrubbed by 14-inch drilled and slotted rotors, which slice
Wilwood 4 and 6-piston calipers. Polished, stainless exhaust pipes
funnel spent gases through polished, dual-chamber mufflers. All
that reliable hardware rolls on fully polished Billet Specialties
Vintecs, which spin 245/40R18 Yokohama S.drives in front of
275/40R18 Yokohama S.drives. And fully sorted details like
stainless fluid lines and a polished stainless fuel tank ensure
this classic bowtie is ready for years of carefree cruising.
CUSTOM AND COOL
Inside this Chevy, pillowy leather surfacing is the central theme
of a custom cockpit that was installed by Paul Atkins Interiors.
Power bucket seats join a restored bench to frame a custom,
silver-trimmed console. That console floats a traditional Hurst
shifter behind Vintage Air conditioning and controls for modern
Clarion audio. Linear door panels seat polished handles and
hand-formed trim in front of modern power windows. At the floor,
fresh Daytona carpet looks as crisp as the day it came out of the
box thanks to piped mats. At the front of the cockpit, a
silver-trimmed dash frames Dakota Digital telemetry. The driver
stays connected through a stylish Billet Specialties steering
wheel, which spins a half-wrapped rim around a tilting column. And
the passengers carry their essentials in a custom-upholstered trunk
that's finished with polished billet supports.
What started out as America's first low-priced hardtop has now
become a legend. And today, the 1955 Chevy is one of the most
exclusive and highly-sought collector cars of all time. If you've
been searching for a top-notch tri-five custom that's as much fun
to drive as it is to show, this cool sedan's attractive combination
of great performance and classic style simply can't be beat!
