Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1998 Rolls-Royce Silver
Spur in nearly flawless condition inside and out with only 35,000
miles. The car presents as you would expect given the mileage -
original paint, no accidents or paintwork, excellent glass, grille,
bumpers and chrome. Interior is likewise in exquisite original
condition with practically perfect wood dash and door uppers,
leather seats and door panels, and wool carpets and headliner.
At a whopping $130,000, a Silver Spur (the long wheelbase version
of the Silver Spirit) was among most expensive cars you could buy
in 1988. For comparison, a Ferrari Testarossa was the only
production car car that cost more, at $135k - a 1988 Mercedes-Benz
560SEL stickered for just under $70k, a BMW 7-series was a mere
$53k and top-of-the-line Lincoln and Cadillac sedans could be had
for around $25k. Needless to say, in the era of conspicuous
consumption only the exceptionally wealthy could afford a new
Rolls-Royce.
But what a fabulous car you got for your money. Featuring classic
but understated styling, nothing says "you've arrived" like a
Rolls. And with every interior surface wrapped in wood, leather or
wool, it's certainly a luxurious and comfortable place to spend
time (or to conduct business - there are period Motorola Dyna-Tac
handsets hidden in both the front and rear armrests). A set of four
sheepskin rugs is also included (see photos), just in case your
feet get cold while enjoying lunch on one of the wood tray
tables.
Mechanically, this is a well-maintained and well-sorted car with no
warning lights and no known service needs. A/C has been converted
to R-134a and is blowing cold. All lights, switches, indicators,
gauges, stereo, etc. are working properly. Runs and drives
beautifully and is very nicely detailed under the hood. This is a
lovely example of a Silver Spur suitable for any collector or
enthusiast.
