Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this stunning 1973 Triumph
Spitfire Mk III. This car underwent a multi-year, photo-documented
restoration by a well-regarded British car specialist in Wisconsin
before being acquired by the Bruce Weiner Microcar Museum (as part
of the non-microcar collection). Fully restored both mechanically
and cosmetically to a concours standard, it's likely one of the
finest GT6s available.
Finished in correct Mimosa Yellow, paint and body present as new
(or better) as do bumpers, trim and glass. Immaculately clean under
the hood and underneath as the car has essentially zero miles since
the restoration. Interior is equally nice with an excellent
original dash (with factory silk-screened labels still intact), new
carpets and restored seats.
All drivetrain and suspension components have been replaced or
restored, from the 2.0 liter inline six cylinder engine (fully
rebuilt) to the clutch and gearbox to the rear axle and the brake
system. Fitted with a four-speed manual with overdrive - it has
been terribly difficult for us NOT to drive this car given how
clean and fresh it appears. Although the engine was test run and
tuned when it was installed in the car, the fuel tank is currently
empty - this GT6 has lived in a climate-controlled museum as a show
piece, but it would certainly be a fantastic car to drive as
well.
Included with the sale are the original factory MSO, passport to
service, complete maintenance and ownership history to new, tens of
thousands in restoration receipts, plus the original sales order
and a copy of the original 1973 title (the first owner kept this
Triumph until 2000; the restorer acquired it the next year through
an intermediary). This GT6 could not be restored for the asking
price.
