Mercedes-Benz produced the W126 chassis series as its top-line
sedan from 1979-1991, and the zenith of desirability was reached
with the SEC in 1985, with the designation short for Sonderklasse
Enspritzmotor Coup� (fuel-injected superior-class coup�). This was
a stately, yet practical coup� that could easily be used on a daily
basis, with a host of advanced comfort equipment for the era.

Completed in May of 1987, 344180 was acquired new on August 1, 1987
through Pep� Mercedes-Benz of White Plains, New York by its first
only owner Mr. Lavinga. The SEL would reside in Harrison, NY for
the next 30+ years with selective exercise, care, and meticulous
preservation as it presents today. With just 23,000 recorded miles,
the Mercedes remains thoroughly original, including the untouched
Blue-Black Metallic paint (see paint meter photos) over Gray trim
and Gray leather upholstery. All glass retains their factory
etchings, as well as the Daimler-Benz decal on the front windscreen
and radio alarm warning on the rear quarters. In fact, ALL decals,
plaques and VIN stickers remain adhered to all areas of the
vehicle.
The cabin displays supple factory upholstery paired to the original
Becker Grand Prix radio and working electronic equipment -
including instruments, safety restraints, steering column, mirrors,
sunroof and much more. Its air conditioning blows ice cold, even in
Texas heat. Above the rear seat, an untouched first aid kit is
stored within the rear parcel shelf. The driver's airbag was
replaced by Mercedes-Benz in September 1997. Both the engine and
luggage compartments appear orderly, unmodified and exceptionally
clean with correct equipment. An original spare assembly is neatly
stowed the rear, along with a tool roll, jack, and again, all
original tags and decals. Likewise, the 560's underside display
original Cosmoline, paint pens markings, zinc coatings, exhaust,
identification decals and components.
The SEC drives, performs, and handles as expected from such a
maintained and preserved low-mileage example. It benefits from
recent servicing and detailing which included a new battery, oil
and filters, a/c recharge (COLD A/C), rear struts, bushings, and
correct Continental tires as delivered new. In addition to the
aforementioned emergency equipment, the 560 SEC is complete with
what appears to be all original matching books, Data Plate, cards
and manuals in vinyl folio, M-B touch-up paint set, clean Carfax
and AutoCheck reports.
