Vehicle Description
Sunnyside Chevrolet of Elyria, Ohio in conjunction with Greg's
Sports, Classic, & Muscle is proud to offer for sale this beautiful
1968 RS/SS Camaro Convertible Documented Big Block 4- speed.
There is simply no way to put into a few words how rare this car is
so please bear with me as we walk through this together.... First
of all, let's talk about Canadian Documentation that shows that
this was a Canadian Car show car in 1968. That's correct, it was
built in Norwood and shipped on November 2nd 1967 to Canada on the
"GM of Canada Car Show Account". This is not some driveway story,
this is DOCUMENTED.
So, if you are gonna build a Camaro Convertible for a car show
let's just add everything but the kitchen sink- and they did.
Here's how the GM build information reads. RS/SS 396 Butternut
Yellow /Black Camaro Convertible. 396/350 Horsepower 4-speed close
ratio. Tinted windshield, electric windows, deluxe front and rear
seat belts, head rest, special contour type seat, floor mats front
and rear, door edge guards, folding power top, floor console,
auxiliary panel and valance (spoiler), power brakes, front disc
brakes, L34 engine 396, close ratio 4 speed, hydraulic steering,
cluster instruments, monitoring system lamps (Fiber optics like a
Vette), green dot Am-FM multiplex stereo, front and rear bumper
guards, Rally Sport Package, deluxe interior, special wheel- hub
cap and trim ring.
In a world of BS made up Camaro's this car stands on a pedestal as
an unbelievable DOCUMENTED example. I see the ads all the time,
just like you, for made up undocumented cars. This car is
investment grade. I, Greg Pawluk, Operating Partner here at
Sunnyside Chevrolet and Sunnyside Sports, Classic and Muscle, have
owned this car from 2003 until now. I started looking for a better,
more documented, more equipped big block 4 speed Camaro Convertible
the day I bought this car in '03. I still haven't found one.
Period.
This car has had one repaint at some point in its life. Other than
that, this beauty is ORIGINAL. Interior- Original, Chrome-
Original. Engine compartment- Original. Underside- Never rusted and
- Original. I believe the top is Original but I'm not 100 percent
sure.... The car is being sold as 51,719 actual miles, per the
title, with the understanding that we have not been with the car
since the day it was born.
In the interest of full disclosure, the engine block is not
currently the one that was in this car when it was built. It is a
68 350-horse block but it was built a number of months after
production. I have researched all the ancillary items on the
engine- heads, manifold's, carb, intake and they are all correct
dates and most likely original to the car. I'm sure someday this
car will reappear after a couple more owners as numbers matching.
We just don't do that. The transmission is numbers matching and I
am confident the rear end is as well.
Overall, I would call this car a very, very nice original driver
quality car. Does it look like it was restored last week- no, and
quite candidly that's where the appeal is in this car. Other than
one repaint and the block it is pure Chevrolet history. The car
runs and drives wonderfully and has been well maintained. At this
time the stereo and the fiber optics do not work. Never really
needed either when you have the sound of the engine and the top
down....
Drive it, show it, keep it in a bubble and polish it as a prized
possession, the choice is yours once you make it yours.
We stand behind our thoughts on this car by offering our travel
expenses guarantee- come see the car and if we have materially
misrepresented its condition we will gladly pay half of your travel
expenses up to $500.00- this offer had been in place since we sold
our first classic and we haven't paid the money yet.... We pride
ourselves on having good cars and representing them properly.
