Vehicle Description
Literally speaking, this 1951 Ford Anglia may be classified as a
panel van, but it's like no panel van you've likely encountered.
Its high impact exterior combines with accelerative ability that
puts it in very rare company, owing to an outstanding array of
added performance components. Care to find out what the term
"g-force" is all about? Get behind the wheel of this one of a kind
Ford, step into the gas pedal and you'll get the first-hand
experience.
While streetrods are nearly always going to offer plenty of curb
appeal just by virtue of the anticipation they create, the fit and
finish of this '51 is far beyond the norm. Its exterior wears a
coat of black paint that presents nicely and is ornamented by
contrasting flames down the lengths of its hood and sides - pull up
at any drag event and double takes will be a given. Up close, you
can see that this was a paint job done right - the added amount of
flake isn't excessive, but just enough to add texture. The
performance-centric components that give the car its rocket-like
performance rise up from the center of the fiberglass hood, which
opens easily via a button release from the back forward for
excellent access to the engine. This Anglia's singular appearance
represents a modified take on vintage style that blends nicely with
its assortment of track-oriented trappings - the combination of the
supercharger blower up front, the quartet of oversized wheels and
the ambulance doors in back isn't something you come across very
often.
The interior has a great, minimalistic appearance with some
well-chosen details blended into the mix. A pair of cloth racing
buckets are the centerpiece of the cockpit, looming over an
unfinished aluminum floor that really creates an awesome,
race-inspired look, with a pair of door panels that are in
surprisingly clean shape to each side. A compact aftermarket
steering wheels sits on the tilt column and a collection of white
faced gauges are recessed into the dash to monitor motoring
functions. Just below, the long-stemmed shifter sits within easy
reach to put this rocket through its paces. Behind the buckets is a
nicely finished wood panel floor that covers the relocated battery
just below.
The rubber liquifying power this Ford boasts comes via its 350
cubic inch V8, armed to the teeth with a Weiand blower, performance
cam and a pair of 4-barrel Edelbrock carbs to maximize its output
as it pairs with a 3-speed TCI transmission. The engine is in top
form - the addition of extreme performance components often comes
at a price to overall running condition, but this assembly is
well-calibrated and the engine sends an even, commanding note into
the aftermarket headers leading to Flowmaster dual exhausts - it's
a note that can be altered at your whim, courtesy of the
switch-operated cutouts. Up front in the engine compartment an
aluminum radiator and electric fan have been added to keep
operating temperatures in check. This skillfully modified street
machine rides on a modern Chevy S10 chassis that provides coils up
front to pair with the multi link suspension in back, where you'll
find the fenders have been widened to accommodate the sizable
29/18.50/15 Mickey Thompson tires on display. Power steering makes
for easy maneuverability, while disc brakes help bring prompt fade
resistant stops.
