Vehicle Description
Built for only thirteen years, the Chevelle sure made its mark for
GM as one of the brands best selling cars. In fact, in 1969 it was
billed as "Americas most popular mid-size car". Yes, by todays
standards it's a large automobile but then it was categorized as a
mid-size. The Chevelle was around during the Muscle Car Era and
proved to be no slouch when it came the heavy hitters of the day.
The second-generation of Chevelles, built from 1968-1972 were all
new for the year with a rounded body vs. the square design of the
earlier cars. It also was the time that Chevrolet were producing
the most powerful cars of the times. This particular Chevelle
badged as a SS car is in fact from our determination is a Malibu
Sports Coupe with a 396 Cubic Inch V8 with 325 HP and a manual
transmission as the engine number is TO306JA. The trim tag states
that this was a paint code 55 or Turquoise car. There are many
things on the car trim wise that would make us feel more
comfortable that this is a clone. This car has gorgeous newer
hugger orange paint on top of a very solid rust free car. It starts
right up, sounds perfect, shifts through the gears like it should
and goes down the road strait and true. Looks as though that Baker
Engineering in Grand Rapids MI area did a rebuild in 1997 and then
a freshening up was done in 2013 at the tune of over $3500 in 2013
by Heiges Performance which is a local shop. This is a lot of car
for the money and impossible to duplicate at this price.
